So this is the most up to date progress of my replica of ED-E from Fallout New Vegas! At this point I've already done a lot, but luckily I've been taking pictures throughout my whole process so I will post all of the pics I have along with short descriptions from when I first started up until now. These are also the reference pics I've used(minus all the calculations I've written on all the paper copies). This replica is about a 1/3rd scale because a side by side comparison of the in game human npcs show that ED-E is roughly 3ft in diameter, so I used a 13"(33.02cm) diameter hamster ball. I've also finished the license plate. I'll post more descriptions of what I've done and more pics tomorrow! Thanks for checking this out!

Hello all, so I know it's been a while since I posted in this thread. Just been busy with some college stuff and other build contracts I have. But here's a boat load of progress I'll let you all see. From beginning up until the most recent progress, here it goes.10852677_740782049349165_1194200021_n.jpg
I first started out with a 13"(33.02cm) diameter guinea pig ball. using a ruler, compass, and protractor, I was able to map out all the lines and things along the surface of the ball such as the grill, and his horn things. I was also able to map out exactly where his back armor plate would be. All of this was using simple proportioning with fractions and calculations of lengths of arcs, so basic geometry really. 10882065_1506259632946094_611498879_n.jpgI then used cardstock to create a template for the grill and horns that I would later transfer to EVA foam and replace it with. 10865270_1507559132867010_1030109142_n.jpgI then began the building of the back armor straight from EVA foam. I used one long rectangle that went across the equator of the ball and then I built of the vents using eva foam also.
10844125_306597702862807_1074965140_n.jpgI continued to build up the back armor until I felt it was good enough to be bondo'd later.
IMG_1813.JPGI then built the horn things ED-E has on the top of him out of EVA foam using the template I made earlier as a guide. Later instead of purple for the trim, I used a different thickness of eva foam. I also built the mount on his underside that hold the zapper.

IMG_1829.JPGIMG_1814.JPGAfter finishing the topside part, I cut the template I made of the grill off and retraced it onto thin EVA foam. After doing this I stuffed it with the standard thickness eva foam for sturdiness and then I hot glued it on. (all of this so far is eva foam and hot glue btw!)
10895083_320721881464162_2088056582_n.jpgI then began to draw out where I would put the light bulbs.
IMG_1828.JPGHere he is from the front. sorry I forgot to flip the picture. but you get the idea.
10899167_313430212188269_2131394338_n.jpgI then began to get antsy because I knew I had to wait and buy Bondo so I could fill in cracks before I did much more to ED-E, so I began to craft out some of the details I knew I would need, such as the lightbulbs, license plate, and antennae.
10903319_818959074829749_708375953_n.jpgHere is the license plate before and after I painted it. I made it using thin pvc sheets. Once I had everything measured out, I cut out the letters and hot glued them on. I heat formed it to the right shape using my heat gun. I made the white stripe and "GREAT MIDWEST" along with the "ILLINOIS 2062" by putting scotch tape down and then I measured and proportioned it all out so it would come out correctly. Then I used an exacto knife to cut it all. and since the plastic was originally white, when I peeled the tape off it was the right color. Then I painted it flat black, then light red enamel coat, and then after peeling the tape off I just weathered it using some brown.

10838544_782851998446865_1360111586_n.jpgI then added the ball joints to the two top antennae. I havent connected them though yet. When this picture was taken, I had finished the first rough bondoing and sanding.
924660_437005376457728_593054026_n.jpgAs of now, this is how our hero sits. waiting in Primm where the courier will continue with his repairs and take him on his journey into the Mojave wasteland. Haha the progress has been really good though. He should be done way before may, because I am going to hav him on a clear acrylic rod with my courier cosplay. I'm also going to get some molds made and cast a few resin replicas once this one is completed. He's about a 1:3 scale ED-E, because a life sized one would be about 2.5-3 feet in diameter! but I like the progress so far. let me know what you guys think!

Well I know it's been a while since I posted anything about this build but after a ton of work and with the help of some friends ED-E is done and sometime this week or next week the rest of the Inazuma Props crew and I will make a cast of him and go from there. In case anyone hasn't looked at any of the earlier posts in this thread, this is a 1/3 scale replica of ED-E from Bethesda's videogame Fallout New Vegas. If anyone is interested and wants to see any other pictures of him and other stuff the crew and I are working on or stuff we've finished, you can go to our instagram page which is updated the most frequently at https://instagram.com/inazumaprops/ or you can also check out my insagram where I post most frequently at https://instagram.com/babycakes_gabriel/
