Not sure if this qualifies, but here is my first clay-based work.
As an art student, I've been kinda lost in what I want to major in, but I've starting to lean towards ceramics and sculpture (2D Art is sooooo boring to me!).
For one of my Ceramics 1 projects we had to create a custom mask from a specific culture. I chose a venetian style mask.
Fired it, painted it with 'Heirloom White' paint, then added crackle paint for a cracked porcelain look. Didn't really come out how I wanted, but it'll do. Gave it a 'Vintage Photo' ink wash to make the cracks pop, and finished it with gold leafing.
Still have to add the leather parts for the top area, but the ceramic part is done. Slightly terrified to attempt a face, but I can't wait to try.
Thoughts?
