My Models

Thought I'd start a separate thread for this as to not flood the sticky thread at top. Now I'm in no way an expert at building models..I consider myself only half decent at it. I have zero lighting skills so all my models are not light. Although I wish I did have said skills I'd love to light a 1/350th TOS Enterprise and 1/350th Refit Enterprise.

I'll make separate posts for each model in this thread. I'll do small thumbnails for them but do direct links to each image for a better viewing.

I'm currently working on the Round 2 Enterprise-B kit and will get DLM's parts for it and I do have the Acreation aztec decals for it. I am currently waiting to hopefully see if I can get a replacement piece for the neck that I lost from Round 2. It'll be a week or so before I see if I get the piece... if not I will have to buy a whole new kit. So for now it's in drydock.

To start off here's my 1/1000th TOS Enterprise. This is not the Round 2 version where it included the Botany Bay. Some time I'll get that one.

I made this the production version but with a slight twist. I liked the spikes on the bussard collectors so I kept those in. I also painted the inside of the engine grills light blue to match what Gene initially wanted with the model.

Here is my 1/1000th Round 2 Refit Enterprise. I initially made this just the Wrath Of Khan version but decided to turn it into the The Search For Spock version. I might get another one and make it strictly with the Wrath Of Khan and get the 1/1000th Reliant to complete it.

This is my Round 2 Deep Space Nine model, and the Defiant came with the kit. For the Defiant aside from the name and registry decals everything else I hand drew the details first then went back over it with paint. It's not the best but hey it works... I did weather the station as hopefully the pictures will show.

I also took some fishing line and suspended one of the runabouts from the upper docking pylon. I also plan to get a 1/2500th E-D and the Cadet Series Klingon Bird Of Prey kit to add to the station.

Edit: Yes the window decals for this model sucked....

Here is my Round 2 Enterprise-C build. I had built this many years ago when it first came out I think in the 90's. However, my building wasn't that great... but I've always wanted to build the E-C as how she appears in "Yesterday's Enterprise". I wish I had done the battle burns on the lower saucer a little bit better. I think too I did a slight over kill for how many there are on the lower saucer. The colors I chose were ones to sort of match the original studio model.

Here is my build of the NX-2000 Excelsior. I used PNT's resin parts for the saucer as well as DLM's parts for the aft torpedo launchers. I might track another Excelsior down to build it as the NCC version some point in the future.

I built a new stand for it (which I should have finished) because the original stand it came with SUCKED.
The decals are a mixture of PNT and JT-Graphics. The aztec are Acreation's decals.

This is Round 2''s Enterprise-D kit. I hope they re-re-release the kit at some point so I can build one for one of my brothers who wants one. For this kit I used the kits aztec decals...my only complaint is it covered up some of the windows. I tried going back over with the black ultra fine tip marker but once it started to bleed badly I stopped. I used Tetryon's wonderful neck replacement as well as the gribblies for the engines and missing windows forward of the Captain's Yatch.

I also made this the version seen in Generations before its destruction. I also had to jury rig a stand using two rods from a couple of other Round 2 models since the model was very forward heavy. The crack you see in the bussard area underneath the port nacelle was my fault...but since you barely see it I decided not to fix it.

Here is the Revell Star Trek Into Darkness J.J. Enterprise. I wanted to do my own take on this particular model. I made the colors a homage to the TOS and Refit Enterprise. The aztec decals are of course Acreation's. I also didn't bother adding the NCC-1701 registry on the bottom of the secondary hull since I hated that. I was going to put the registry decals on the lower saucer as the Refit Enterprise but those particular ones shredded on me, so I opted to the TOS look. I also used PNT's decals for this kit.

I used ParaGrafix wonderful photo etched pieces. I went with adding the refit impulse engine that we saw at the end of Into Darkness for this kit instead of the original. The bussards are painted clear orange and I did leave the deflector dish pure gold like how the TOS E deflector is.

This also has gone to my brother Mike (the one who wants an E-D model too). So come January I'll be getting a new kit from ebay to build me a new one and use the same colors.

Here are my two Klingon Bird Of Prey builds. The top one is the original release from back in the 90's. Actually I picked it up at Star Trek The Experience when I lived in Las Vegas.

The bottom one is Round 2's release and as you can see I built it in landed mode. Hopefully if Round 2 once more releases the kit I'll buy another and build it in attack mode. Or if anything I'll track down one of the old ones to do in that mode.

This next model was a fun one for me. It was fun to experiment with the different grey tones since I wanted this one painted that way. The decals are JT-Graphics since they're customized. I used DLM's (Don's Light and Magic) for the deflector dish and bussard collectors since those were more accurate than what came with the kit.

As you can see by the registry this is the U.S.S. Drexler named after the famous Doug Drexler. I got his permission to name this that and to use his birthday as part of the registry number. I need to see from him if there's an address to where I can send it to him.

Okay as we know the old Star Trek 25th Anniversary PC game featured the Constitution Class U.S.S. Republic where in the game it was heavily damaged by a fake / duplicate U.S.S. Enterprise. In the game when it showed the outside of the Republic after the attack. However the image shown it was almost a mirror image of how the Constellation was damaged in the Doomsday Machine. So this is my take on how she would have appeared.

The model is the 18'' TOS E from the tin box Round 2 issue. The decals are JT-Graphics because the ones that came with the kit virtually shredded on me when I attempted to apply just registry.

Last but not least is my Intrepid Class build of the U.S.S. Sternbach ...yes after the designer. I got permission from Rick to use his last name and his birthday for the registry number. Now this one I am going to send to Rick.

For this kit I did add some missing details around the deck 2 and 3 area as well as the navigation lights. I also used the ParaGrafix photo-etch set and JT-Graphic decals. I'll probably get another Voyager kit to make as Voyager herself.

Some nice ships :) I like your battle damage effects. And the painting of your Tal-Shiar warbird, the classic bird on the bottom.
A very cool small fleet. And always happy to see Star Trek ships :)

Thank you Ratbone, you're the first to comment on these. I too love the Romulan Warbird and it came out very good. Although filling in the seam lines for it was a pain in the arse. I'm working on the Klingon Vor'cha and Enterprise-B right now.

Someone on Facebook made a comment that with you around no Federation ships are safe. I replied, "Not everyone builds theirs pristine like out of spacedock."

thats some great work youve done. My favorites are the Drexler ,great paint job! and of course the Voyager, some real clean work..and its my favorite ship too of all the ST ships

Thank you for the kind words. :) As I said in the initial post the Drexler was a very fun build for me. It took me a few tries to get the right colors down for which grays to use.

Edit: I didn't realize until a few days later after I took the pics that one of the escape pod hatch decals on the lower saucer got ripped. I have since fixed it with an extra decal from the JT-Graphics set.
