Captain America pepakura shield. I need some advice...

I'm working on a Captain America shield and I didn't realize that the pepakura base was so skewed. I had some issues with it after I put it together, but thought I had fixed them before I fiberglassed it. Obviously not. I've built a few other things with pepakura/fiberglass/Bondo, so I'm kind of a beginner.

Top view - I marked off where it starts sloping off.

I've been working on building the one side up, but I ran out of Bondo and decided to leave it for a few days so I could rethink my approach. I'd like to have it done by the end of November for the small comic con we have here. I do have one of the plastic shields as a back-up.

So, should I scrap it and start over or continue building up the one side? Is there a better way to build up that one side?

Thanks!
:D
