Hair Punching?

Hey there, I've been trying my hand at hair punching silicone using crown punch needles. I was wondering about the "dip method" or whatever you want to call it. You dip the needle in thinned down silicone every few punches to secure the hair in to the silicone.

My question is how thin is the silicone? Is it "airbrushable" thin or thinner/thicker? And how many punches before you "reload"?
