Kurtyboy's project updates: 24 July - More blasters

Re: Working on some more props: 19 Dec - C3P0 wires and some Kobolds

Working on C3P0's belly and back wires. I'm using ribbed rubber mat onto which I've glued a zipper stitched to some jeans fabric. I'm basing my wires layout on a reference photo from the Tunisia shoot which was the clearest image I could find of the ANH wires. For the back I'm using screenshots from the Jawa droid sale scene.

For the palm details I found some flat squared gold studs. The large squares will be cut from aluminium then gold vacuum metalized.

Re: Project updates 23 July - Bapty/Tunisia E11 stunt update

Started gouging out the barrel shroud opening. This is it just up to 65mm using a Forstner bit (and a spray can cap fitted) but I plan on increasing it to 70mm and using aluminium tube. I will then get the radiator fins 3D printed and install a metal tube for the barrel.

The original blunderbuss look of these castings is pretty comical.

Also have several new machined/laser cut/engraved parts in the works...

Re: Project updates 3 July - Vader ANH lightsaber 'V2'.

Interesting I have one of these V2 strips on a nice dark blue backing.
Will have to knock one of these up tomorrow :)

Here is how the board looks with the blue backing:

It ends up slightly off center the way the pins are arranged around the red cells.

Re: Project updates 23 July - Bapty/Tunisia E11 stunt update

Doubt you know this but the very first run of the hyperfirm Lewis Guns we did with a large PVC pipe down the barrel. There were a couple that we did with completely hollow barrels. That changed quickly as it would have likely compromised longevity and durability.

Re: Project updates 23 July - Bapty/Tunisia E11 stunt update

Buy Propshops printed parts, and when it´s detoriated back to dust ..... say it again. :D

Propshop parts are not OT Michael...but Marcus and me are most definately OT nuts ;)

Having seen the Propshop props up close at CE, I am not really impressed. The only item I was actually interested in was the new BC and boy what an ugly piece of 3D printed crap this is up close!!! I don´t mind if these items come from THE shop, that made the sequel props...they´re a) non OT and b) fugly :lol

I know, but i´m curios how the buyers faces might look when that stuff breaks apart. Expensive dust. ;)

Re: Project updates 3 Sept - Luke V2 lightsaber

Looks great... Did you do any other weathering? Area with the cone looks darker (thinking of tackling this saber this weekend)

Re: Project updates 3 Sept - Luke V2 lightsaber

Just a light rub with aluminium black. Should have done some more.

Project updates 3 Sept - Stormtrooper helmet liners

Cheers guys.

Also got another one of those minor jobs done that you just keep puting off year after year. Installed hard hat liners into my ESB and RotJ Stormtrooper helmets.

ESB gets the less accurate one.

RotJ gets the good stuff.

Pictured with the other 'white helmets' (not to be confused with the US/UK funded propaganda group in Syria):

Re: Project updates 3 Sept - Stormtrooper helmet liners

Looking good! Is that one of my liners in the Rotj? Or a mix of ?

It would be easy to make your ESB more accurate if you just swap out the straps.

Have you got Hovis on your rotj? The frown is squared of making it more ESB MKII In which case the Hovis are correct. Otherwise for true Rotj the frown needs rounding off and Rotj mictips installed.

Yes, that's one of your old RotJ liners - had it in my Fett ESB but swapped it out for the correct style. Damn, I painted the frown too long then.

Project updates 22 October - More Lewis Gun upgrades

Lewis gun gets more upgrades. Opted for steel instead of my usual aluminium so they can be blued. More upgrades coming soon...
