Kurtyboy's project updates: 24 July - More blasters

Re: Project updates 21 Nov: Blasters!

Congrats on the UZI...have mine unconverted for about three years now

do you plan to have the disc on the alu plate machined?
how do you attach the secomat pen holder to the UZI...simply by glueing?

Re: Project updates 21 Nov: Blasters!

The Uzi are easy to find but I didn't buy one until I had the correct flash. I have no idea what that disc is so it would have to be machined. It could be a Michell part but not one I'm familiar with.

Yes, glue will be my choice.

Jason, it is indeed one of the prototype Fett blasters.

Dug out the rest of my parts. Graflex ain't here yet...

Project updates 23 Nov: Blasters!

Pump grip for my V1 Hoth rebel blaster rifle done. I added the missing ridge with pieces cut from a 3mm strip of styrene.

I removed the inaccurate barrel tip and replaced it with a resin one from one of Markus' kits.

Just needs a Singlepoint and a final coat of satin black.

Looking great Marcus.
I had the chance to finish my 'long ammo' Hoth rifle last night...only took me a few months :lol

Re: Project updates 21 Nov: Blasters update!

Doing some upgrades to my ANH bowcaster. New side rails. Old ones were too narrow and the holes were all over the place! Improved the front sight as well. I had one screw holding each 'ear' on previously. Filled and drilled holes for two countersunk bolts.

These changes make all the difference, far nicer!
Looks like you and I are at about the same point :)
I'm just waiting on a nice long grub screw which I'll pass through the top

Re: Project updates 21 Nov: Blasters!

What kind/ size of cable cleat are you guys using for the front sight assembly? Can´t find these in germany :(

Re: Project updates 21 Nov: Blasters!

I can't remember the size but my paypal invoice has a (6) at the end of the subject line so I'm guessing that's it. Listed as armour cable cleat. They need a lot of modifying though.

Marv, I never noticed the grub screw before. I'll have to take another look.

Did you make your rails symmetrical? The originals look very asymmetrical so I might have to re-do one (a third time!) but I don't have any more material left.

The whole Bowcaster is badly assembled, everything is skewed or squint!

Re: Project updates 21 Nov: Blasters!

I'm using it through the top. That way they should hold each other all being well.
The cleat I have is a size 7. The 6 I thought was a tad narrow around the barrel.

What is the diameter and wall thickness of your barrel?

Project updates 30 Nov: Hoth A295 V2 completed

I used 16mm aluminium but while going over it recently I'm leaning towards 15mm which is a non standard size and quite rare. 16mm just looks a smidgen too big and the next size down 14.5mm looks too small. Haven't decided yet.

Finally finished my Hoth V2 today though with the final satin black coat.

Re: Project updates 30 Nov: Hoth A295 V2 completed

Yours looks SO MUCH cleaner than mine...That´s where all the prepping and numerous coats of primer pay off, huh?! ;)

BTW:
I think I got the scope ring/ sight assembly right on mine.
I decided to remove the diecast Denix sight and replace it with a resin one. This way I could set it up correctly and add the lower part of the scope ring to the correct spot.

Can send you a resin sight, if you ever want to redo yours :)

Re: Project updates 30 Nov: Hoth A295 V2 completed

Is it a problem with the Denix having it's sight wrong placed, or is that accurate to real, and the propguys modified theirs?

A problem with how the Denix sight is set up.! The 'visierschieber' is fixed on it and can not be positioned accurately.
