A "fully functional" Iron Man MK VI Armor [WIP & Pic Heavy]

I'm trying to get as close to the real thing as possible - of course it won't be able to fly or shoot - but I'm going to cram as many electronics, servos and LEDs inside the suit as possible.

For starters I'll only be building one arm, since I have never tried such a complex project. before.

It will be a simple cardboard model made from Gaiatrons and robo3687's pdo files, covered with a layer of wood-spackle, to make it smoother and stronger.
I'm going to include everything shown in the pictures and hopefully it will look just like it in the end.

Here's a first look:

I'm still working on the missile hatches, but as soon as I'm done, I'll post some pictures and explain how the mechanism it's going to work.

Here's my first try at making a remotely controllable compartments for the small missiles.

First I removed a receptacle from a small plastic assortment box i found lying around and cut it into shape.
Then I cut a matching lid from the remaining part of the box and glued some control horns used on model planes onto it to act as hinges.

I assembled it using a fixing pin as an axle. So far it's solid and opens and closes smoothly.
I also went ahead and prepared the bowden cable I'll use to open an close it. So far works perfectly and needs very little force to open/close the lid.

A quick sketch I made to illustrate how it's all going to work in the end:

The LEDs will be hooked up to the servo, so they'll light up when the lid opens and switch of while it's closed.
I still have to work out a way to make the missiles pop up when the lid opens, but I'll probably finish the palm and the wrist-plate first.

That's it for now, but I 'll continue posting my progress over the next few days.

Sorry, I had to put some of my projects on hold for quite a while, but i hope i can finish this one until the end of the year :)

Sooooo.. here are a few updates:

Using the cardboard cutouts i had kept from the first mock-up i created last year, i cut the necessary shapes from 1mm metal sheets originally used in a computer housing a no longer needed and hot soldered them together.

I started smoothing the seams and rebent some areas that distorted from the heat

So here's a first look at the parts i finished so far and a comparison to the cardboard version.

Again, I'm sorry for my prolonged absence and I'll try my best to keep updates coming :)
