I need some direction please

I am making a prosthetic appliance for my Cornelius costume and I am a little confused when it comes to making the mold, which is both negative and positive (the chimp and my life cast). What is this type of mold called?
And secondly, I would love to find a good, comprehensive site that shows and explains the process. I have seen many, but they fall a little short on the steps I want to see specifically. I get confused in the negative/positive and how they join. Thanks!

I think the Monstrous Makeup Manual would be a good buy for you. Better, even, for this situation.
