I've gotten a LOT of inquiries as to where I got the jacket, so I figured posting it up here could help some folk.

Originally, I searched for a *similar* coat online, finding a fairly close match from a company on eBay called "Flesh and Hide Inc."

Noticing that they did custom and replica work, I contacted them via their listed email and exchanged photos with a representative until we landed on something that worked.

This is the coat in question: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Leather-Classic-Long-Coat-in-Distressed-Brown-/321374287238

That style, made to my measurements, with a funnel collar, no pockets, no zipper, no buttons/buttonholes in a distressed brown leather ran me ~$200 shipped.

The only part I'm not 100% satisfied with is the collar, simply because the LoA collar has a very particular cut to it, but that's something I'm working on fixing.

Just realized I never bothered to post my finished pics from last year. LOL

Dark Archers unite! I couldn't have made my own costume without your input, and yours is still the best on the block!

I just realized that, despite having put a LOT of work into my leather quiver... I NEVER POSTED PICS OF IT!

Awww... thanks! It helped that I got to ask John a lot of questions about various details so we could get them right for our costumes. :D

I should post some pics of my quiver later so people can see the snap system used on the show to connect the quiver to the belt straps. Everything's packed away at the moment due to moving.

Hey guys , I am new at this and I am also a fan of the dark archer and I was wondering if you could help me with the mask and hood or send some pics about the hood , because it has been a year and I still have not figured out how it works so please if you can it will be very helpful . Oh just in case you were wondering I wanted to ask john myself about the costume , but I am in SA LOL .

The mask is neoprene and can be purchased on Amazon. The hood is made from black suede and decorated with small silver rivets. I can post pics after I finish moving. What questions did you have about the costume? I can probably answer them for you. John and I have discussed it several times and he's told me mine is spot on, and I'll be seeing him again in a few weeks.

I have been looking for the basket weave pattern leather and can not find it anywhere. Can someone please help?

Thanks for the reply OMG ! Um I heard on s1 e23 that Oliver grabbed the mask and heard a tore sound and I wanted to know if the hood and mask are stitched together or something like that and yes , I would like to see the pics when you can it would be very helpful and appreciated

Correct me if I'm wrong but to my knowledge he had two different versions of the hood. One with the neoprene mask and one with the sown in mask for different shots.

Ok now that was super helpful , thanks ! Though it would still help to see the pics after you've moved in , just to understand better : )

I have some that I took that i took of mine using his method also that might help you get started until he can post his. I'll post them in a few hours either way for you.

Yup, there is more than one version of the mask. Originally, John would end up literally sewn into the mask. However, he's slightly claustrophobic and it would cause mild panic attacks and he couldn't breathe. So for shots where you'd see him yank the entire thing off his head (mask and hood), those are the ones that are sewn together. For shots where the hood is draped around his neck, it's just the regular neoprene mask. The ripping sound you said you heard is most likely the velcro in the back.

Okay, here we go. First off, the size of the hood will vary depending on the size of your head. The hood itself is only 2 pieces of black suede. Do NOT get the really thick stuff, or it doesn't drape properly.

Pic #1 shows the main hood piece folded in half. #2 it's spread out to full size. So yes... that's one big piece of suede.

#3 shows where your rectangular piece of fabric attaches. The rectangle should be the same length as the red lines.

#4 finished hood, folded flat in half. Note that the side rivets are NOT in a straight line from front to back. They start higher and angle down lower when you reach the back to account for how the hood drapes when worn. When you're wearing it, the lines give the appearance of running straight around the hood.

Wow , I did not see that coming , but thankyou very much ! Now I know what to do . Oh , how do you get the head size for your hood by the way ?

I've been on a roll over the last few days.

Started off by finishing up the hood. After prototyping it in scrap fabric and then microsuede I went to tandy and picked up some thicker suede. Many hours of hand stitching and riveting, then cutting all those rivets and re-riveting later...

In some downtime used an artificial jade barrel bead and some apoxie sculpt to make his pendant, finishing it off with some silver "Rub n buff" wax.

While I was at Tandy I grabbed some belt blanks and a few punches when they were on sale to make the belts, and while I was doing the dyeing I did some basketweave leather for Malcolm's bracer. Using a little scrap suede from the hood project and some rivets, I think it pretty much looks the business.

Still missing the quiver, arrows, and leather panels on the coat's chest/shoulder/back, but went ahead with a test fit. I couldn't be happier with how it is coming together.

How did you weather your jacket?
