Well ive been on here a little while now and have the yet to start a thread so here goes.
As a few of you may be aware the london comicon is this weekend. I've always been into gaming and movies but I didnt find comcon until last year and ive been hooked ever since. I wanted to join in the cosplayers so staryed looking for a movie accurate dark knight costume and from there started to search for iron man but could not find anything I was happy with, ultimately my searching led me to pepakura which in turn led me here.

I will be there all day tomorrow and I am so excited I cant sleep so thought I would post up here and see if anyone else is going, it would be great to meet likeminded guys or girls I can to about iron man pepakura.

P.S I hope this thread is in the right place.

Re: London comic con 2014

Was an awesome day yesterday. Was seriously busy and didnt quite get round everything but managed to pick up a few bits of iron man merchandise. A few prints and another light up cosbaby, I now have the mark iii and war machine, they are a little pricey but sooooooo worth it.

Re: London comic con 2014

Today was a busy day.
Didn't spend as much as I thought I would though.
Couldn't get in the cosplay showcase comp at the end as it was packed.

Re: London comic con 2014

Cosplay comp was rammed solid Saturday too. How was the queue to get in? I arrived at 10:45 and got to the ticket stand at 12:50

Re: London comic con 2014

We booked priority tickets, pretty much walked straight in. Think we got there at about 10.30.

Re: London comic con 2014

Cant wait. Earls court is closer and easier me to get to and there is usually more iron man stuff to buy than at the mcm con.

Re: London comic con 2014

MCM was fairly quiet on Sunday. The range and quality of the cosutumes is always impressive.
It also has some of the strangest costumes I have seen but this might just be that I don't know alot about the Anime charecters :)
One costume that did surprise me was someone walking around with a bow and arrow with the arrow loaded onto the string ready to fire, I guess it was an Arrow costume but I only realy looked at the bow as it was a very strange way to carry it at the show and thought that security would have had a word.

Re: London comic con 2014

On that note, where can I find info on DOs and DO NOTs?
I am going in July as Hawkeye (Avengers version..sorta!).

First costume so very excited, but I don't wanna be the noob carrying a bow/toy gun where I shouldn't.. NOTES PLEASE??

Re: London comic con 2014

I found the rules on the mcm London comic con site, im sure if you look on the site for the july show the rules will posted somewhere there

Re: London comic con 2014

The rules for costume weapons at Showmasters events are below. The full details can be found at Props Rules, How to Signup for Cosplay Events & General Info - Costumes and Cosplay - Showmasters

3. Props Rules

All weapons and props must be checked at the Cosplay desk on first arrival and approved by staff before allowed into the convention.

Your prop may not be allowed to enter the Convention for one or more of the following reasons:
• Too large/unwieldy
• Blocks corridors/doorways or is likely to hit or inconvenience others
• Too heavy
- If it's heavy, it can hurt, especially if dropped
• Too hard
- No props made of hard wood, or any sort of metal
• Too sharp or spiky
- No sharp bits or edges, make sure they're sanded/rounded/padded/covered or otherwise protected adequately
• Too realistic
- No realistic replica weaponry without obvious 'Blaze' (brightly coloured) tips and the weapon itself being out of use, of course.
• No weapons that can fire any sort of projectile, even foam darts or water, unless it can be shown to be empty and/or that only some parts have been used for the prop.
• No actions which may lead event staff, attendees or members of the general public to believe you are in possession of a real live weapon, even at a distance. In these cases it is not only up to our (Staff) discretion; we do also have Venue Security in place who will have to approve it.
• No pyrotechnics, explosives (including cap-guns) or incendiary items
• Actual weapons (including airguns, deactivated guns, blunted/sharp knives or swords, live bows or slingshots) are expressly prohibited

In all cases, the weapon or prop must be no longer than 1.6 m (5.2ft). Any items longer this may be used in the Masquerade only and must be handed in to Registrations & Help Desk for safekeeping until then. If they are not handed in prior to the Masquerade they will not be permitted in the event itself

Please know that these rules are here to assure we have a safe Conventions for both Staff and Attendees. If you have been asked to put your prop away please be so kind and do so or in an extreme case you might risk being escorted from the Convention.

A general safe rule is;
‘If you were to be hit with it repeatedly, would it break before you do?’
- If your answer is ‘no’ here then it means that someone could get hurt were this to happen. In which case we would recommend you leave it at home just so you don’t get disappointed once at the Convention.

Re: London comic con 2014

The events in MK stadium and the Birmingham NEC are worth checking out too. Collectormania and Memorabilia :)

Think the next ones are in November now.

I'm with the R2 builders at as many events as I can get to, so be sure to come and say hello to the guy with the R2 that has silver doors :D

Re: London comic con 2014

No "live bows"?! Even effectively toy ones?!?!
Presumably if you keep it unstrung and DON'T have a string to fit on it then it should be fine??!

Re: London comic con 2014

They seem quite lax on the prop weapon front at MCM. I saw several realistic fire arms without a coloured tip and several giant swords over 2m in length made of plywood.

Most of the bow carriers had them strung with elastic but very loosely, they wouldn't be able to fire anything more than a couple of feet.

Security didn't seem to do much beyond police the queues and doorways. There were a bunch of assassin's creed cosplayers balancing on top of the statue there. Seemed a pretty stupid thing to do yet security didn't seem to notice.

Re: London comic con 2014

I was hoping to bring a Captain America shield to get Stan to sign at LFCC but I guess I won't be allowed to bring it according to the rules since it's made of aluminium :(

Although I guess getting it on the plane or checking it in at the airport would probably be a pain to do anyway.

Re: London comic con 2014

Hi guys my daughter is going to the late one in Sept in London, had to book and pay for the hotel room now as there was only 2 rooms left at the hotel her and her friends stayed at last yr. glad you made this thread Stig some where to leave photos and stuff for the Cos play .
Last yr was a blast she sent some video from her phone of a lot of people doing gangman style song and dance on their way there.looks like every one enjoyed themselves.
