Advice Needed: Dragonplate Armor from Skyrim

I am looking to recreate this armor from Skyrim:

I need some suggestions for materials in making this. I was thinking of going over it with something to make it glossy afterward and form a thermoplastic over something, but I don't know what to form it over or even if thermoplastics would be a good choice for armor made of BONE.
