fiberglass/bondo/rondo question

So Im building scorpions mk9 costume and doing pepakura. I have the shoulder piece finished and was wondering what method is the best for detail and easy sanding. I'm going to make molds and casts of them so I'm not looking for durability. An help or tips are appreciated.

This is what it looks like
 
layer of fiberglass resin on outside, fiberglass resin + fiberglass mat on the inside, then light layer of bondo, sand, light layer of bondo, sand etc until you get what you like. bondo will be easiest to sand and put detail into, rondo would be second best i believe, and straight up resin will be most difficult i think
