Halo Reach MA37 Assault Rifle foam build

Hi new user here, I must say I have been inspired to build props through this site, started with an Iron man costume... which I then sold!

Now Ive started on Halo props.

Just asking for some advice really, on any improvements I can make based on my build below with regards to any future builds?

Any tips on how to improve my weathering and make the weapon look more realistic.

The one below is my second attempt and is made from foam and card.

Also, what can I use for the barrel next time? it does not quite have the right shape compared to the actual design??

Any ideas???

Cheers

looks real good....as far as some friendly advice -- maybe try some different materials like MDF or syntra...as far as the barrel goes--try looking around the hardware store tons of options in plumbing section--pvc pipes, copper pipes, O rings, washers, etc. ( or find a buddy w/ a lathe ! )

For a foam and card prop, this is pretty impressive! I seconded buckettt's advice on the barrel, PVC parts are great for barrels, the barrel can also run through the body of the gun which acts like a core for better structural integrity.
