Hello there.
I thought that i'd post a few pics of a couple of 1:1 scale scratch built droids that i have made for a friend in london.

first up a pit droid that i just finished recently. (clik on tiny pic to make them lovely hi def ones.)
my battle 2 (202)s.jpgbattle 44s.jpg
secondly a battle droid finished a while ago but never got around to posting it.

i decided to scratch build because of cost mostly but also with them both being so slight
i could see them not needing a lot of materials, just time.

i looked for plans on the web but found nothing so using stock found photos and screen caps i had to hand draw my own plans.

these wip shots show the quite simple plywood technique used on most of the construction
pit672s.jpgbattle droid 774s.jpg
made of mostly plywood with plastic tube, foam, a bit of filler and nuts and bolts.
they are both topped out with my grubby paint job.

other attempts at these droids seem to be based on the hasbro droid dolls from 1999. they are little sterile to my eyes,
i wanted to see them alot more, well, lifelike.

just wanted to get these photos up and see what you all think, if any one has any questions or want to see any more specific wip shots just say...
cheers spacebob.

I prefer the original trilogy too jkno, but I couldn't resist making these as I already made a scratch built artoo and a gonk, I'm planning a 3po next

thanks CT7567 i'm glad you like them,
its great when you spend such a long time on something and you guys appreciate the effort because you all do the same (or similar things anyway).
most people who see me making these things don't get why I do it at all.
you all do... yay.
thought i'd post a pic of the gonk i made because he wont get his own thread and i feel sorry for him,
gonk gonk s.jpg
he's functional too, he's a record box.

Awesome sauce, the highest praise I have received indeed.
Also I was wondering how I could go about cloning the droids, does anyone know of someone in the south of England who would cast one, they would of course gain the rights to sell them themselves. Any advice would be terrific cheers

Well done mate, these are awesome.

I have about 5 projects on the go at the moment, and now it has grown to 7..... unless you would be willing to sell some of these in the junkyard (wink, wink, nudge, nudge, heh, say no more).

Thanks diaxus, I used to torture them with chisels, drills and saws but I stopped when we became close ;)
