Starlord's sony walkmen? guardian of the galaxy?

WOOHOO!!!

Just scored a TPS-L2 on eBay for about $150. Seller indicates it *may* be non-functional (and I've been on eBay long enough to just translate that to *is non-functional*), but even if I can't repair it, I've got a semi-screen-accurate prop. Needs the "Walkman" branding to be perfect, isn't there someone on Etsy with decals for them?

I still need headphones and a tape, and if I can get the player working, I'll have to get my old cassette deck out of the attic and record Awesome Mix Vol. 1 off my iPod.

AWwwcrap. That was YOU who beat me out? Arrgh!! I was hovering over the mouse button waiting to make my bid and when the auction got down to two seconds, I clicked....knowing I had it...and then, disaster. I got the log in screen. I forgot to log on!! GAH!

Well, I'm happy that one of us here on RPF got it. You gotta let me know if it works, man, LOL! Oh and hit me up for them labels...I have two sets. PM!

You can bid on a UK auction with a US account, as long as the seller has put down that they are willing to ship worldwide. I only see one right now that's in the ~$100 range and will ship internationally, though. Same issue with the darn CDing2 blank tapes, there are UK sellers with better prices but they won't ship across the pond.

If eBay doesn't offer their UK sellers something like the Global Shipping program available to US sellers, they should! If they do, I wish more sellers would use it.

I've never had that happen to me on eBay, but I can't tell you how many great concert seats I've had in my grasp and lost because something similar happened with Ticketmaster.

Sure wish our UK brethren would open up their ebay.uk sales to Worldwide! There are alot for sale and most of them are under $100 on British pound bids!

This post really made me laugh, not in a nasty way, but just as a UK cosplayer so often we find ourselves stamping our feet in frustration that something that is seemingly readily available on every street corner in the States is nigh impossible to find over here. Never heard of the situation being the other way round before.

Finally finished my Drinkman conversion. Modified another pair of headphones too.

I just used a small MP3 player attached to the back. Downloaded the full album to a micro SD card. Simple solution, works great!

I thought I might still want to use the existing opening for a future upgrade so I just found a small piece to fill it in. I made the orange button out of sculpey and glued it to the piece.

A small rubber ring holds it in place

For the headphones I cut out part of the metal adjuster with a dremel. It took forever and kept getting really hot!

Very cool looking. I wanted to do the same but could not find a portable speaker that will fit inside the Walkman. Better yet an all in one MP3 player with built in speaker.

I am suprised you didn't putty in the gaps and defects

It looks great! But I am filling in those round thingys and the logosdrinkman.jpgdrinkmans.jpg

Does anyone have the link for that image that someone prepared for making a paper version of the TPS-L2? I think I'm going to go that route but I can't seem to find the link now.

Could you possibly let us know what the model number is for the headphones you modified?

I just found an awesome substitute for the TPS-L2 at a garage sale for $5.

I just need to slap some decals on there and it's good to go. Maybe with a little searching you could find these online for less than the original Walkman. Its the Hamilton ST-1400.

Chrysoprasis, I picked the belt clip from Tandy Leather. I don't remember the model number. But if you go to there web site they do have it. It's a rivet on belt clip
