Arsenal (Roy Harper) Cosplay

Hey everyone!
So, I'm creating a new cosplay. It's the first time I'm actually making one myself.
I've included a picture of the character, and a picture of a very good cosplay.
Any tips on the material for the costume? Or any tips at all? I've got the tattoos and bow covered!

I'm looking to do this too since my girl is perfecting her Cheshire. It shouldn't be too hard you could easily buy a black and white trucker hat and draw the design on. For the top I'm thinking of making it out of foam, more like armor. Red shirts and a dye a pair of red pants and your good. The gauntlets shouldn't be too difficult either. I might just go with a batman foam pep, elongate it and get rid of the fins and add some red mechanic gloves.
