Thanks Contec, I'll be mounting all the plates tonight using the industrial velcro, stick-on for the plates and a sew-on for the fabric side.

Re: Bigdaddy's 2013 Halloween Costume Contest Entry

Thanks for the reply, Im going to follow your build.. I have a Kickass costume inbound that i hope will arrive before saturday. I'm throwing together the BD armored Kickass costume from the sequel.

Re: Bigdaddy's 2013 Halloween Costume Contest Entry

Just about finished :)
10/30 8pm: I only have the chest plates cut, the other 20 pcs are still in the form of garbage cans and ideas in my head, no patterns :facepalm
Belt tubes made, they were painted every few hours thoughout the night along with Night-B*tch's various components (yeah, both costumes at once :wacko :lol)

10/31 3am: cut and ready for the creasing process. The bends are from following curves in the waste cans

Re: Bigdaddy's 2013 Halloween Costume Contest Entry

Some accessories needed to be purchased
The knife had to be modified, the only difference I could find from the screen version is the leg string was replace with a molle strap fastened with a parachute buckle (done :) ). The stitching on the sheath matches, as well as the cut-out on the hand guard, visible in the scene when BD is sharpening his knife at home.

The mustache will be cut in half for extensions.

Gun and Holster, I borrowed one of my daughters airsoft guns, since she got a new BB gun for her costume. The holster is not SA but when I saw it at the army surplus store for $14, I figured it was close enough. ;) Side note: I'm a lefty, Big Daddy is not, so although it fits my .45 nicely, the holster can only be used for costume, since its' not reversible :(
attachment.php

Gloves: The screen gloves were ID'd as Harley Davidson, not in the budget! I saw these knock-offs for $30 and they seem SA right down to the stitching on the palms, all I had to do was cut off the waterproof tags.

The Lid: I purchased from DKnight23 on the RPF (my 1st purchase from another member :) ), it fits like a champ with no padding, and when I tie my mohawk into a bun on my neck it stablizes it perfectly. :D I wore it for 4 hours of trick-or-treating with no discomfort, Lance did a fantastic job, his website is xtremedesignfx.com.:cool:thumbsup

Re: Bigdaddy's 2013 Halloween Costume Contest Entry - Big Daddy

I had intended to enter all three of us as a group in the contest, but the group catagory was eliminated this year. :eek So I though I'd make a thread in the costume showcase for all three of us to "showoff", but the showcase has also been eliminated. :facepalm ( I still love irony :lol )
So I'll post a couple group shots here and in Hit-Girl's thread. Even though I couldn't enter my wife's costume in the contest I'll do a build thread on Night-B*tch in case anybody else is interested in doing it for cons or cosplay. The closest town to us is only 600 people, so we are lacking urban environments for photo shoots, even a brick wall as a backdrop is hard to come by in the country :(

Re: Bigdaddy's 2013 Halloween Costume Contest Entry - Big Daddy

awesome work! i love that this could have been a how-to montage in the movie lmao

Re: Bigdaddy's 2013 Halloween Costume Contest Entry - Big Daddy

What did you use for the edge around the armor pieces?

Re: Bigdaddy's 2013 Halloween Costume Contest Entry - Big Daddy

What did you use for the edge around the armor pieces?
I used a black fabric tape that I found on Ebay. It came 2" wide but I only wanted a 5/8" reveal on the armor so I split the rolls in half, the 1st one on my table saw (trashed the blade) and the next 2 rolls I cut down the middle with a utility knife (that takes a while :) )
Also, if you are doing Kick-Ass from the sequal, I discovered there are a few differences between his and BD's armor (I know its' suppose to be the same) while I was reseaching this project. If you want to maintain SA then I would only used screen shots from the sequal to construct KA's armor
