Hello, here is my Wedge helmet (styrene kit bought from one of the members here), I did the assembly, printed homemade waterslide decals and did the weathering (mostly with pastels and some paint sprayed from a distance). Here is the result:
Awesome work, It looks great could use a clear coat to give it shine, but I think it looks perfect as is, clear coat shine would detract from the weathering.
For the decals I used a blank sheet of dedicated "waterslide decals paper" found on Ebay and an inkjet printer. I did the victory marks, sliced onions...on Illustrator, printed it on the paper, sprayed a layer of coat on it, and I now had regular decals (like for model kits) ready to be soaked on water and slided onto the helmet.
About putting a layer of gloss on the shell... I'm not convinced the movie helmets were glossy and shiny. I think I'll leave my semi-gloss/matte finish
I just subscribed to this thread. I'm working on a X-wing helmet myself using fiertek's pep file an may use your pics as reference for the paintjob. (if that's okee with you). I think the red one is done to death and am looking for different paintjobs for Mine.
