Iron Man Mark 42 glove

I had some Iron Man fingers 3D printed and I finished painting the thumb and Index finger. I used Champagne Pearl Metallic and Inferno Red metallic (Can be found at an Autozone or O'Reily's Autoparts). I need some help with the palm plate. I cant get a material strong enough to hold up and the right texture to spray paint. Anyone have any suggestions? I plan to finish it before Halloween

So far I've tried foam covered in an acrylic coat and polycaprolactone plastic. Neither were as smooth as I wanted. (Im fairly new to this)
