Been building a firestorm over last few weeks as one of my heavy weapon class mass effect builds, here is some progress thus far.

That's going to look awesome. not a gamer myself. so I'm guessing there is some kind of energy charge between the two points on top before leaving the front barrel. nice work...

Broke my ankle and haven't been able to do much on this build lately although I did make some progress on the main canister part over last couple of days but most was able to be done sitting!

What kind of wood did you use on the lathe?

I used what I had to hand think it was beech? I had to bond 9 lengths together to get the diameter I needed.

excellent, this was one of my favorite heavy weapons from mass effect 2. really good for anti-personnel work!

also, great job on it so far!

Did however get a little done to firestorm, mainly putting the pieces of the main body together and adding a few areas of detail.
Coming along slow but as planned. Thinking this is gonna turn out a puzzle for moulding and will prob end up being at least a ten piece kit?

Let me just say I love the gun and helmet. I've been trying to work with foam more and more lately and I just had to ask, how did you get such a good shape on that helmet? And did you use a heat gun to bend the foam strips or just rely on the glue to hold it?

Bit of both really, you kinda have to allow for shrinkage if your using heat, but the foam will bend and stay bent without heat if minor curves required.
Give it a go as is a cheap material to use and readily available.

I liked your approach on cutting the dowel at a consistant angle. Nice techniques!
