Man!!! I'm loving this! You're so talented! :) I so look forward to seeing how this ends up, but I'm sure it'll be awesome!

Re: Despicable Me 6" Minion - Painted!

looks so good even tho it isnt painted... you should make a minion army lol
The plan is to mold and cast it, so a minion army is on the way!

wow This looks very nice! Coming along nicely - thnx for posting the photos!
You bet, I really appreciate everyone's positive encouragement.

Looks great mate, think im going to give it a bash to :D
Definitely give it a go. The only thing I wish I'd done differently is to build a better underlying support structure for the arms and legs -I'm having a problem with them breaking and have had to re-glue them a couple of times.

Can't wait to see some paint on this guy. :thumbsup
Wait no longer, see the end of this post ;)

Thank you! When I see the incredible work of so many members of this board I feel like a "C" player, but every project makes us better, right?

Well, the last day has been a little challenging. I'm not sure if I have a bad can of primer or if there was a reaction between the Sculpey and the primer, but either case, blah. The primer went on and stayed tacky. Ultimately I had to sand most of it off and then "baste" the piece with baby powder to get it workable again. The net result is I couldn't get to the type of finish I was looking for before paint.

The solution? I figured I just airbrush the entire piece with yellow acrylic paint and do clean-up from there. Course, once I started painting I couldn't stop (heh, heh). So, this is not the final paint job -some of my brush work is a little substandard and I still need to do clean-up/sanding but...

I like it!

and the pics...

The eye took about 5 tries. Overall I'm pleased, but I bet I can still do it better.

he's class, just make him come to life now

Took him back down to primer and got him ready for molding. I'll pour the first half of the mold tomorrow, fingers crossed that it goes well.
