The Rocket from "Objectif Lune" and "On a Marche Sur La Lune" (Tintin)

Making these checkers was so much more complicated than I had anticipated.....I'll upload a photo later of the lazy susan/tripod system had going on to do it.
I covered the whole thing in masking tape, then marked out the grid, and cut out every other checker.
Originally I was going to polish the whole thing, but I think the contrast between gloss red and matte white works really well for that comic book feel

Love the rocket , brings back my childhood.

Did I read correctly that you have made plans available ?

Anthony

Not quite, but I'm willing to share them! I only produced one wing/pod drawing because it seemed like a waste of time to do the other 2 when all you need is one blueprint

Oh.....looks like I'll have to remake the file....I forgot that I lost it :facepalm

Today I drilled the hole and installed the ariel, it's just brass rod which I've rounded the edge over on. I've sold this rocket to my old design/tech teacher, I'm in desperate need of money for getting my MPC upgrade kit off the ground so John and I are planning to make an improved Version 2 Rocket for myself

I put my heart and soul into making this model but unfortunately I have had to sell it, it's off to the buyer (my GCSE Design Tech teacher of all people) tomorrow afternoon.

I'll be building another one for myself after this, and I'd love to try a 1/72 scale version!

My dad very kindly did the photography and then masked off the background in Lightroom, then I drew the background digitally in Pixelmator.

Herge's visual style is surprisingly difficult to emulate....I also drew the characters down on the surface as you can see.
