Pepakura Curious?

Hi everyone,
I am reading more and more about Pepakura with excited curiosity. Replica helmets are really appealing to me and I am really keen to try it out.
I have the software and am getting to grips with it just fine. I know its a case of printing the files off on card stock but I am looking for the next steps. I wouldn't want to make a paper helmet so to speak.
Any guidance for a complete novice would be greatly appreciated.
