Lady Thor Costume advice

Hello all! So this will be my first costume build of this kind, and I'm very excited! I am basing the costume off of this picture:
tumblr_m5w5ryjHPd1r8nsgio1_500.jpg I'm gonna make the armor and skirt and cape and wear it over a black leotard and dance tights, and I plan to make the boots similar to my Sailor Moon boots, which I made with spandex and a pair of old pumps, and then make the metal boot accessories with foam. I'm making a headpiece as well, which is not pictured here.

The armor however, I am looking for some advice on before I start, since I know it's a tedious process. I really want it to last and to be rather solid because my Leia bikini bottom ended up breaking and I never found a good solution (though I'm sure there are a ton on here ha). I was thinking of foam building the front of the bodice part and then silicone molding it and casting it in fiberglass and having the back just have straps. If I wanted to have it wrap around more of my body, I'm assuming I would need something more flexible so I could get into it, like a polyurethane resin? Or maybe I could do separate fiberglass piece(s) for the back and connect them with straps or something? The armor 'skirt' part (the metal little side skirt things) I was going to do two separate fiberglass pieces connected with straps/elastic. Any advice on which technique I should use? I really don't want it to be just foam, but that may be the best option too, not sure. And all the foam builds I see on here are amazing. I'm sorry if any of this sounds insane/wrong, I am very inexperienced with this level of costuming haha. I am however patient, and a total perfectionist, so I want to use the best method possible and not shell out on a bunch of materials I'm not going to use. Thanks for any advice you can give! :)

well if you want it to be solid and last you should look into foamex, Its a sign plastic that is really solid but under heat of a heat gun becomes soft and easy to work with. Its really handy

One thing a lot of medieval costumers do for armor and things like that is foam covered in styrene sheets which can then be heated and molded. You get the lightweight and ease of foam while still having a hard, durable surface on the outside.
