Hey guys,

I saw some pics of people converting their Hasbro clone trooper helmet to some more... real looking helmets. So I gave it a try myself :) the helmet isn't based on any specific clone.. I looked a bit at Rex's helmet and some other clones. I tried to make it look a bit damaged/weathered, tell me what you think :)

What was the painting process like for you? I have one of these that I want to paint but I've heard people have some trouble with sanding it down because it's a soft plastic. Did you sand it and put a base coat of white down and then paint the red details and weathering on top?

OP has only one post: the one at the top so chances are that he/she will never see your question. I worked on one today, so I'll fill in:
Hobby primer, CA glue and epoxy adhere quite well actually. I have not tried paint directly on white plastic but I would imagine that it would work. Sandpaper can be used.
The tool that works best is Dremel with cutting wheel or sanding drum. Hand tools (hacksaw, rough file) don't work well.
You could be tempted to cut with a sharp knife - don't; you'll only slip and hurt yourself. (I could show you my scar...)

Thank you so much! I'll definitely sue some of those techniques on mine :)
