THIS IS THE BUILT THREAD!

Hey folks,

dupes4real brought me on the idea to make an Iron Man Arm wich works as a desk lamp like this.
armkybgf1nuzs.png

this is an arm wich Sérgio Oliveira did

BUT i will make them different, not as Sergio Oliveira did his.

I will make the Mark 8 and Patriot arm as a desk lamp,
to the occasion of the new Iron Man 3 movie, wich will come next month!

It will be about 45 cm high (18 inches) and WILL NOT have this damaged look.
It will run on batteries and also on plug.
There will be a 3-way-switch (Batterie - OFF - Plug)
and also a rotary switch for controling the brightness of the lamp.

How far I came with it already: (status of 14. april 2013)

*I used helagak´s 3D Model for M8 Arm.
and for the Patriot i used jackieisrockin´s files.
For the hand I used the M6 file, but i can´t remember where I get it from.

I only modified the files in their size and angle
and I made mods for them for easier assemble.
Only the elbow-parts are modelled by myself.

That's a fantastic idea and a great use for pep as you can chop and change with a little more ease then other methods. I will be subscribing to this and am awaiting your next post!

Your gonna use clay to smooth it out?

Not at all, but yes.

I mean that air dry clay, wich gets hard after 24 hours.
Its VERY easy to sand down, thats because i use it.

But I also will use polyester filler.

I made the hand parts:

Then I filled the glove with clay, paper and glue:

And this is the pose of the Hand:

EDIT:

I glued the paper parts on to the filled glove:

Then i hold it over the Mark 8 underarm, to see how it looks together:

Coming along nicely! I thought about making an Arc Reactor lamp along the same lines after seeing how bright my first one lit up.

Now i clayed the Patriot underarm + elbow-part + handplate

Now I only need to clay up the handplate for Mark 8 and the Hand.

The handplate will be very easy, BUT the hand, the hand will be the most pain in the ass on the whole earth to clay up.

That was a pain in the ass to cover this all with clay, the most pain was the hand!
But I´m realy glad to have this behind me!
So here is what Ive got now :)

I sanded the M8 Underarm a little bit, thats why it looks smoother than Patriot.
