Colonel Stars and Stripes

Burned the night oil to finish the shoulder boards...

and finished the top.

Not ordering the pouches worked to my advantage.
Based on the size of the drop mounting platform and the size of a nasal inhaler... the pouches are not for a pistol.
They are MP5 and I think this is the one.

It even has the elastic on the front to hold the inhalers. The color may be slightly off due to photography.

Mark Millar is the greatest and not just for the Ultimates.

I was able to join his forum and here is what he wrote about my work.

"That's awesome.

PS I'll contact Jim or one of the prop guys and find out what was written there for you."

The mini-star nails arrived and I don't like the look.
The mounting prongs distort the tips of the stars so I have to get the proper mini rank pins.
Also, have the G-3 pants. :thumbsup

Thanks Sean. Wish I could keep it up but currently about 700 miles away from my costumes right now.
Glad I was able to get what little progress I did before I left.

I masked the area to represent the folds of the flag and then spray painted keeping the can at a distance so the paint only dusted the folds.

Hope this helps!

Neca is doing a prop replica for SDCC but they have some great pictures plus LETTERING!
This should let you finish it up and maybe pick one up from SDCC.

Psicorp7, you are the greatest.... never thought I'd say that as a B5 fan.

These pictures are perfect and confirm the suspicion about the handle being wrapped with vinyl tape plus the eagle.
Already bought red 3m electrical tape the last time I was at Home depot to go over white fabric hockey tape.

Edit: Last post was when I was 700 miles away. Well after 6 flights and don't know how many thousands of miles, It will be nice to work on this over Memorial Day weekend.

Looks like you solved it, but some advice on getting rank pins (or in my case, Distinctive Unit Insignias-DUIs) into the axe handle, Drill a pilot hole a tad smaller than the pin. I don't have my tools or my handle, so I can't tell you the size I used. I then used a rubber mallet to tap in the DUIs. I put a bit of epoxy on the back before tapping it, with liberal amount of paper towels to mop up the residue. Works very well and I have no concerns about them falling out. I have about 5 DUIs from past units in already, but I need to add 3 more now? I also used 550 cord to wrap "grip" of the handle, depending on the quality of the tape you might want to consider that... you could also use it to buff up the size of the handle.

And you can get Pioneer kit axe handles on the civilian market, or stop by DRMO/ DLA Dispo and pick one up...

안녕하세요 Bikemancs.

I used a 1/16 bit and drilled the pilot holes half the length of the pins and then used a piece of leather to protect the pins when I hammered them in.

The handle was done with a double layer of white fabric hockey tape and then layers of the red electrical tape.

To bulk up and add texture without 550 cord you can spin the hockey tape to made a sticky cord and then put flat tape over it but it appears that such texture and bulk are absent on the Ross grip.

I just wanted to say thanks and introduce myself.

First, thanks for all the hard work and research that has been put into this thread. I wanted to do a Colonel Stars and Stripes cosplay for Dragon*Con 2013, and this thread has been crucial in getting the costume nearly done in less than a week. You all did all the hard work, I just had to read through, put it together, and place the orders. Once the BDUs arrive and the clear coat on Old Hickory dry, my costume is going to be done. So, thanks a lot everyone.

I've been lurking around here for a long time and thought I should finally join up, mostly so I could say thanks.

This is what my Old Hickory is looking like right now. This is before the weathering was done. Its looking even better now that its bruised up a little. I did add some cord under the tape on the handle for better grip, and I'm glad I did.

Oh, and if the scroll work looks familiar, its because I stole it from here and shopped the text in. Hope you don't mind.

I already had the boots, shoulder flags, t-shirt, paint and hockey tape but the cost was $350.04 with leftover fabric and tape.

Worked on making the leg pouch more accurate. The universal mount is larger than the MP 3 mag pouch so I removed 4 inches from the back.
That required moving some of the straps on the back.

Here's what it looks like 90% finished. Need to move the match holder down and make the retaining cuffs for the vertical leg straps. The magazines are cut from black closed cell foam.

And here are some caps for reference.
