I heard threw the grape vine that there is an armor day coming up. How does one get details?

That's a good question Cavx. What is this armour day of which you speak?

Also want to point out to Brissy prop builders that the annual Timber and Wood Working Show is coming up on May 17-19 at the RNA Showgrounds. Full details-

RNA Showgrounds: Events | RNA Showgrounds | The largest venue and event hire organisation in Queensland.

A good place to get a look at a great range of tools out there including wood working CNC's of which there was 3 different brands on display last year.

Not sure on the details and why I am asking.

The 501st had their couple days at Dream World on the weekend. I wasn't there but the photos look great and apparently there is an armor day soon. I would like to go if possible.

Hi guys, DreamWorld was a success, great weather, good crowds and an awesome amount of troopers turned up.

See you guys next year.

Hey All,
Another Mark from Brisbane here. Part of the 501st (Stormtrooper), and Drawn 2 Life as Warmachine. I also have a Red Skull outfit almost done, working on some Hydra Weapons, a Dredd Costume, plus Voldemort to keep the kids happy!
I run a set and display company with a variety of tools and a small team working with me (including fibre glass, resin and metal worker specialisists).
Am happy to host a build party one weekend, esp as I'm keen to make some more contacts in the field. I've got a large workshop full of toys, plus access to some great fibreglass molds including WWII helmets, Boba Fett and Jango Fett!

Seeing as there are a few RPFers around Brisbane, maybe we should plan out a weekend get together - something relaxed, were we can all meet share photos and project ideas. Supernova comes to brisbane in November, and wouldn't it be something to have a strong group of RPFers there in costume? What weekend ( Saturday afternoon) in June works for most?

Rue

Sunday afternoons actually work better for me at this time. I would not mind meeting at say the Plough Inn and kicking back for the arvo with some like minded people and being in costume would just make it all the cooler :)

It would be too late for 2013 but who'd want a RPF Brisbane table at Supernova or Qld Model Hobby expo?

Hmm, maybe. I'll have to see if I've actually got any of my own projects done by then. I've just negotiated every second Monday off from work so I'm hoping to get alot more done in the workshop in the near future.

Hey guys!

So, I am not a resident of Brisbane or even Australia, but I am in the country until early 2014. I will be coming around Brisbane at some point and given my interest in props, masks and such it would be really cool if I could meet some of you guys! If I am in the area at the time I will try to visit Supernova but it would be really fun to see your workshops and/or any creations.

In Sweden larping is a big thing and we put a lot of effort into our gear, props and the acting - Please check this website for an idea of the level of commitment that can be put into a nordic larp! The Monitor Celestra

Just before I came to Australia on a whv I started doing lifecasts and trying out simple things but I really want to take it a step further when I go home again. ANY chance to see how you work, get hands-on experience or just a tour of your garage or full-on creative studio would be a dream for me :)

Anyways - hope to be able to say hi when I get to Brisbane! Cheers /Mlkr

Ok fellas everyone keeps saying it'd be a good idea to get together and talk props so let's do it. Either at the pub or if someone is happy to open their garage that'd be great. I went to a Redback stormtrooper armor party a few months ago and they were building off and showing heaps of great Star Wars builds.
Soo how about on a month from now? Itd be fantastic to see what you can all do and we can even do some trading/swapping.
So who's in and lets set a date/place

Fine, lets get this party started! It'll be at my place in the workshop, Bodie27 you've already been here anyway and I'm working on a sword for Rue so I already know a couple of you (kinda ;) ).

I'll be in Melbourne at PAX July 19-21st so we'll make it after then. Let me check with The Boss and I'll have a date in the next week or so. Once I set a date that'll be it, be there or, I dunno be somewhere else I guess! We'll make it relaxed with light nibbiles and a couple of beers if ya bring 'em. If you're working on something or want to show something off bring it along!

Once we've got a date we'll start a list of who's coming, it'll be sometime within the next 4 weeks or so (as per Bodie27's suggestion).

-Joe.

Awesome. Ill bring along a mate or two that are right into builds. Beers are chilling. It'll be very cool to see some builds

On a side note check out this Adam Savage clip (of Mythbusters) of a Han Solo blaster I'll be making shortly. The same one in fact!

So, let's get this happening! First Brisbane RPF get together will be at my place, in the workshop. I live at Kedron on Brisbane's north side, post if you're coming and I'll PM you my address. It'll be snacks & drinks (you're welcome to bring a beer or two, but if you drink no hands on tools).

YES, I'M COMING TO JOE'S SATURDAY 17TH OF AUGUST FROM 11(ISH)

Juliet76 ('Cause I live there)
Bodie27 +2

Post here & Ill add you to the list
