Budget Dredd 3D Suit and Lawgiver Build -- Helmet Finished and New Suit Pics

Hey guys, so I started working on my lawgiver since I couldn't really find many kits that are currently available at a reasonable price. What I started with is an HFC Glock 17 airsoft pistol and a Nerf Recon dart gun as the basis for the outer housing.

And this is my current progress:

Next I have a lot of filling, sanding, etc. to do. Need to pick up some two part putty to sculpt onto it in certain areas, but so far I've been happy with my progress.

Thanks a lot! It was a lot of work to get to this point. I originally thought I would be using most of the nerf gun but it kept shrinking and shrinking haha.

Sorry if the last pic isn't right-side up...my photobucket keeps acting strange and no matter how much I rotate it, it's upside down :/

Thank you! I'm gonna try to get more done on it this weekend. I'm hoping it turns out ok. I don't have the cash to buy one from one of the other members nor the skill to 3D model my own, so this is usually the route I take with a lot of these things. It can be hit or miss but it's pretty fun taking store bought things and making props with them.

patience is it's own reward for sure! take your time and I'm certain it'll turn out really cool! you got off to a flying start! I've been working on mine since september and it's still not really finished properly :/

Some updates:

Continued work on the gun this weekend. Need to pick up some more epoxy putty but this is what I've got so far. Need to sand/shape it obviously, but it's gettin there:

Also... got my MrPinski helmet this weekend and began work on finishing it. As of now, it is being primed and ready for paint:

I'm glad this thing is starting to come together. i'll slowly be working on a full Dredd costume over the next few months. Hopefully I can finish sooner than later but I'm trying to be reasonable in my estimate

Yes, I like the thicker look of the mask. Now that you mention it, though, I think it is a little too thick. I might cut it down a little thinner.

Pretty much finished with the paint. Might add to some of the battle damage, but I'm pretty happy with it!

Thanks a lot dude! It was quite a bit of work to finish, but I'm happy with it. However, I'm also considering selling this one and buying one of Pinski's smaller helmets as this one is a bit big on me. I'll have to wait and see how I feel.

p.s., for anyone interested, I just threw this helmet up for sale in the JY. I know I just finished it and love it, but I decided I'm gonna get the smaller helmet from Pinski. He came out with that one RIGHT after I bought this one or I would've done that from the get-go lol. Oh well.

Ok well, I sold the helmet and ordered one of Pinski's small ones. Should get it soon and then I can start all over again On the bright side, I found a cheap leather jacket at a wilson's leather outlet store (only $60!).

Got my new helmet in the mail and started work on it! Didn't get the chance to take any pictures, but it fits me much better. Can't wait to get back on track with this! Also ordered one of joatrash/morganthirteen's lawgivers. I liked where mine was going, but I couldn't pass up the chance for one of their awesome castings.
