Caulk mold?

I'd like to try my hand at molding parts, but i want to keep it cheap to see if I even like doing it. What I want to mold is really simple. Basically three thin circles stacked on top of each other with some motches cut here and there. Like a really flat pyramid.

Could I build a box, put my part in it, and glop a bunch of caulk in there, pressing it flat? Would I get a decent, albeit it rough, mold?

If that works, could I use body filler to cast?

Like I said, this is just a cheap experiment at this point. If I can pull it off, I'll have more questions about what you pros use. :D

Thanks.

Thanks man. When I searched on caulk, I only searched the general modeling forum. Didn't think to query to whole site.
