Rocketeer Jetpack

I need a little bit of help, I have spent the last few weeks searching reading through forum posts here, and some blogs.

I am as the title says building the Rocketeer Jetpack I saw the kits online and don't want to shell close to 1k on the kit

I was thinking using chicken wire for the frame, followed by paper macheand then bondo to harden it and use it to cast a mold. I was wondering what you guys thought about that?

That isn't a terrible idea. I believe there was also a Pepakura model of the movie jetpack floating around. I assume you're doing the movie version and not the comic book version?
