Tron Legacy LightCycle Baton

Finally, the first copy, which as usual, (at least for me) and always the worst one: D)I've already dug the top covers to house the batteries for lighting, I made enough space for two AAA battery holder, then total 4 AAA, for now I have only 4 LEDs connected to the central part, I'll have to add at least 2 lighting caps

Sorry for the bad pics, there is no better.
Now I have to try if the caps made with crystal clear, pigmented blue are the right solution, only painting the outside and the inner pad, leaving the inner groove that surrounds the relief translucent so that it lights up with LEDs.

Taken the test light, I only used 2 AAA batteries instead of 4, there are 4 central LED and one on each cap.In the middle I shaped by hand a piece of opal, under which I put a layer of blue jelly and a piece of foam to expand the light, then I'll just make piece of opal cutting by laser, was now only a test.
To cap instead I made a very rough test, I painted with a marker to paint the cap made with crystal clear blue pigmented leaving only the transparent groove, the result is not as clean but test goes well and the effect seems excellent.

To close the battery compartment I put the magnets so you can easily access it for replacement.

Now I miss the stickers with symbols to put in the center and a beautiful painting.

looks fantastic, I'm definitely in when it comes to a run.

correct me if i'm wrong though (because i don't know the specifics of this prop so i probably am), but aren't both ends supposed to light up? or does only 1 end light up in the film?

They are both, this was only a test, then I will both plugs transparent. For the run I'm not sure, do you think would success?

The test looks very good and I like your magnet closure for the battery compartment so there are no screws showing.
I would recommend using clear resin rather than transparent blue. Then people can change the color with different LEDs or glass paint. Or were you going to make multiple colors of tinted clear resin?

The resin is transparent, then I add the pigment according to the color that I ask, if light blue or yellow, because the light blue led not exist, they are blue, but the light in the film is clearer more light blue.

I think I just peed myself a little. I've been waiting to find someone that would take this on. I'm beyond excited and can't wait.

This is totally friggin' awesome!!! I can't wait to see this!! I hope you do an interest thread in the junkyard if you decide to do this as a kit or built up prop! This has been on my want list since it came out at the movies almost what now 3 years ago??

I didn't think it was possible, but your pics and progress just keep getting better and better. You definitely have an audience for this one. This one will be a centerpiece for many displays (including mine!)... Keep it up...

I can do the GFX for you, but I'm stuck on a sandbank so to speak. Telecom malfunctions for 4 days and I am writing from my smartphone, with no real access to my datas. I get back as fast as I can.

Say that it is finally over, missing only the vinyl sticker with the symbol in the center. Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures, but my camera has problems, and the phone takes pictures bad.
Since you asked me in more than one, I decided to make a run, now I leave you with the photos.

Thanks for doing these kits! I can't wait to get it and get it all painted.

You have any tips for painting the cap and getting a good painted edge on the area that is recessed that will show light through?

Thanks for doing these kits! I can't wait to get it and get it all painted.

I did a test with wadding filling the groove from which the light must pass, squeezing it with something small pointed, and the result was decent, the leaves of cotton lint though, so you need to try something else, but the system is good.
