One more polar lights 1/350 STTMP 1701 Built in time dilation field: Photo barrage

Hi all,
I'm back again with another build! Just finished an client Atomic City D-7 & will be throwing it up on the SS page, post build. Also starting a 24" Jupiter 2 for my client & will post something about it soon. Now it's time to do something for myself as well. So.... on to the build.

Finally working on an out of the box kit, first time in a year! I had two of these sitting around forever, staring at me from the corner of my shop. One of them was started & shelved a year ago, the other new in box. I decided I wanted to start from the beginning with the fresh model. At the same time I purchased these, also grabbed the paragrafix photo etch & got lucky enough to get one of the rare PNT photoetch sets as well. For this build I will only be using the Paragrafix set & saving the PNT for later to use the other build.

Ship will be getting a full light package with floods. Not going to use the raytheon method for the floods, but will use arrays of SMD leds. Going custom on the lights. I just can't stomach paying $170 for a light kit that I can build for $20.

I'll add some captions later

So.... Enough babble here are some pics so far!
Happy Modeling!

Looking very nice! You are moving quickly on the build, too.

I've got this kit, along with the Paragrafix foto-etch set, Trekmodeler light set, and extra decals just waiting for me to finally take the plunge.

I'll definitely be following your progress.

Thanks folks!
Keep tuned in, this one is going to move fast. I'll try to post updates daily from here out.

Right On! Sounds like you have all the toys for an epic build.
The extra decals are a good idea. I have the 09' re-release & the 06' first run kits. The first run doesn't have the aztec set, but the marking decals are way better quality. For some reason the re-release marking decals are very thin & brittle. I'm really hoping the aztec set doesn't have the same issues.

Good choice with the Trekmodeler kit. While doing research & planning, I had considered buying a light kit & their's was top of my list. I'm running on a budget & have a grip of good leds already, so I went the custom route.

Re: One more polar lights 1/350 STTMP 1701

So I have developed time dilation technology. This build really only took 24hrs for me since my last post. It was amazing I would walk outside & see days flash by in minutes. Right.. I wish!

So again life takes over & I had to focus on other projects. Sorry all for not posting along the way & I'll try to retro post some of the build, but for now here are some final pics.

Thanks folks, for sure. How's the saying go though "gotta love her, wish she were mine".
This ones already up on feebay, have to pay the bills. Maybe one day when I get to be a kid again(somewhere in my 60's probably), I'll get to have actual hobbies again.

Simply stunning! Pardon the pun!

Re: One more polar lights 1/350 STTMP 1701 Built in time dilation field: Photo barrag

That is one gorgeous starship!

I have to agree that when I look at light kits for models like these, I can't stomach paying out tons of money for what costs me pennies to build myself (and you can customize to your own build).

Especially nice work on the display!
