So I started watching Tom baker as the doctor and decided that I had to have his scarf. Then I decided to just try for the whole costume by Halloween since it seems very thrift storeish... and since I have some good hair for it :cool

So heres where im at so far:
I learned how to knit a garter stitch, got a patern from doctorwhoscarf.com
and went at it! 6 days later im here (over 3 feet)

This is goanna take awhile...

I have a Dorfman pacific indiana jones hat i could use, but I found this online that I purchased and im goanna try to rebash :)

I dont really have a jacket or vest, Im still looking...
I think ive got some pants, but ill have to check...

Only have like 12,000 more hours of knitting left :wacko
any help finding a fairly cheap jacket (and/or any helpful tips!) would be appreciated! Thanks!

Re: My WIP Tom Baker Scarf!!! (and costume)

So it officially day 10 and the scarf is over 6 feet long!

I think i may have found a pretty good jacket too, its an off-white safari jacket that I could probably dye red :D
Other than that, nothing else with the costume has changed
Cheers!

Re: Doctor Who Tom Baker Costume (Scarf 70%) PINK JACKET!

5 posts in a row!!! I should get a medal for being a quintuple poster ;)
Anyway, I got my jacket dyed, but i think it must have been patialy synthetic... Its pink...

I actually dont mind it, its pretty cool!

I also got a cardigan and rebashed that cowboy hat (Here's the tutorial I followed)

Here it is laying on the ground

My TARDIS key is nearly done too! but i dont have any pics yet

Re: Doctor Who Tom Baker Costume (Scarf 70%) PINK JACKET!

Just to break your streak.
Great job so far, you def have his hair down, lol!

Keep it up

Re: Doctor Who Tom Baker Costume (Scarf 70%) PINK JACKET!

Thanks you both! :D
So The TARDIS key is more or less done
I need to do another dusting of silver when the current paint dries, but thats it

Im quite proud of it :)

Re: Doctor Who Tom Baker Costume (Scarf 70%) PINK JACKET!

BAM!!! And the scarf is done!!! And it only took about 2000 feet of yarn ;)

I grew up with the Baker Dr. Who (watched it on PBS lol) and grew into a fan of the new series...but there is nothing as iconic as the Baker Scarf, and this one is AMAZING! well done ^__^

Great Job ! I did a little Doctor Who outfit this Halloween also (11th Doctor).

Most people kept asking me why I had a bow tie on ? How did yours go over ? better recognition of the scarf or did people ask you all day why you had a very long scarf on :)

Also love the tardis key .. looks like a project I need to add to the list of things to work on.

Thanks for the compliment! About 3 People actually knew who I was, a couple more knew i was "The Doctor Who", an the rest just thought I had a freaking huge anaconda scarf :D And as the TARDIS key goes, I would say go for it! You could easily get the entire key done in a day (not counting the painting)

Nice scarf! And the costume looks really good for a quick Halloween project. :thumbsup

I knitted my own a few years ago but I went with more muted colours. (Sorry this is the best picture I have).
