My Dredd 2012 Costume

Hi guys, ok so this has been done very fast as I have a fancy dress party next week I'm going to. Now that it's pretty much finished there's things I wish I had done differently, but to be honest people won't notice the difference to actual outfit.

Photos showed the pads & back protection as green, but after watching the film twice yesterday I wish I'd stayed with the darker green that I'd started with.

Gonna cover the whole thing in cement dust before I leave but am happy where it's at right now. Although I may overhaul it and do it properly after the party. Oh & I opted out of the leathers as its hot enough as it is :)

Anyway, don't flame a complete amateur :)

Impressive, especially for an amateur!
But agreeing with Tigerblood here, don't forget to hit that helmet with some weathering!

Thanks guys :)

I actually just message MrPinski about weathering as I want to rough it up but am slightly scared of ruining it.

For the helmet I made, I took paint off to reveal the "metal" underneath. I used light bits of sandpaper and different kinds of steel wool to reve paint here and there. Black and brown washes will help dirty it up as well.

dude that's great!! lawgiver is awesome too!! what did you use to modify the base gun?

I used some plans I found on here for the Lawgiver, and based it on a glock 17 I think it is. Cut some bits of MDF to give it shape and then fiberglassed & then added filler. I wanted to keep the use of cocking the gun & firing it so have made adjustments for that.

Thanks for that, gonna give it a go later :)

Nice pics. So how did you make it? I would love to learn

Well I was inspired by the camping mat idea I read someone used on here for an iron man costume. They knee/elbow pads & shoulder pads are made from gardening knee pads. But to be honest I would like to make the shoulder pads larger.
All webbing and clips came from eBay for a couple of £.
my local material shop had the right looking cloth. I even got leather looking material but realised due to the heat of the camping Matt that I would die with the heat. I have used it for my medical couch and ammo clip holder.

That's bloody lovely mate,
might want to re think the cement dust thing though as if it gets into certain 'moist' areas the lime will start to react and can cause you chemical burns, if you can try fullers earth, you can get it on eBay or at certain health shops

That looks fantastic man, you should certainly be proud of it :) The detail on the foam-work came out brilliantly.
I think you've inspired me to build one for my next costume after I've done the Scarlet-Spider one.

Oooo good point, thanks :)
