Pink Floyd The Wall Dictator costume

Im trying to make the costume Bob Geldof wears in The Wall as the dictator Pink. So far i'v had no luck on finding anything similar to the shirt he wears. The lack of information on the costume and even decent pictures is making it really hard to get a good look on how to make it. It has weird side buttons that go down the whole left side plus neck and cuff buttons. As for the other accessories I just need to buy a Sam Browne belt, and can probably make the armband pretty easy but the belt buckle seems a bit complex to make, I was thinking of just buying a Pink Floyd The Wall hammer belt buckle and paint it, although it would be a circle and not the square one that he wears in the film. I was wondering if anyone had any idea how to make or find this type of shirt he wears or any interesting ideas on how to make the belt buckle. Any help would be appreciated! Heres some snap shots from the movie (low quality I know).

Also I know the connection with the logo between the Hammer Skins and blah blah blah but im not interested in the dumb politics, just wanna enjoy making a bad ass costume.

You don't need to overthink this one.
Start with a heavy black turtleneck.
Fold the neck down, sew or glue.
Sew silver buttons in place.
Use printable fabric transfer sheets for sleeve logo. + red tape
Black belts; one thick one thin
Buckle with Hammer logo.

Understand that most people will mistake it for a political statement.

The fold down turtleneck is a great idea, I didnt even think about that, sometimes the most simple ideas are the best. And I know, its just for a Halloween party with some friends, they all know what it is and dont care, its not like im wearing it out on the town lol. I am also bleaching my eyebrows to create the shaved look so its more of a reference to the film. Thanks for ideas though! I'll post some pictures later on once the costume is completed.

you don't have to go through the trouble of bleaching your eyebrows....

there is an old drag queen trick to cover your eyebrows without having to bleach or shave them.

basically take a glue stick and a popsicle stick or butter knife and spread it in layers over your eyebrows brushing opposite the direction the hair grows and then back the way it grows so that you glue it down flat. let it dry and keep applying until your eyebrows are barely noticeable. You may want to use white glue as purple or clear will not give you the effect needed. when you have almost completely disguised your eyebrows and slicked them down to the point that they are almost completely invisible cover it up with cover up or foundation. depending on how thick your eyebrows are you will probably need to do quite a few coats to get the desired effect and be sure you are letting it dry in between layers or you will just keep spreading it around without making any progress.

I'll see if i can find a youtube video describing the process....

Halloween Series: How to Cover Your Eyebrows - YouTube

hope that helps

I'm in the process of putting together this costume. It is going to be legendary when it is complete! I'm even creating numerous of the faceless masks using the original method and so far they are coming out great!
