Hello RPF!
It's been quite some time since we've posted anything, but we thought we would give you all an update of what the truck looks like now and a little briefing on our trip up to Pixar's studio in Emeryville, California. We apologize in advance for the wacky photo sizes.
The last time we posted here, we had the truck and it was all pretty much complete, except the rocket on top. We went through several different design types and used all kinds of different materials until we came to the end result. Luckily, Jacob from our team and his family are all incredibly talented and came up with what is now our current roof rocket. And, yes it lights up
Here is a brief video of them working on what would be the final design.

After we had the rocket, we started some little local tours around Southern California. We had a video game competition at the Johnny Cupcakes clothing store in LA, a photo shoot with Boba Fett, and much more. We had been (and still are!) picking up steam like crazy on our Twitter account and it seems like wherever we go people will find us and are just as excited as us to see the truck.
This was our "Year in Review" video that we made back in March. From planning the trip to purchasing the truck, to it being complete - it's all here.

It was time to get serious about the trip to Pixar, and everything was falling in line. We packed up our bags and headed up north for a road trip extravaganza. We planned our trip to be about a week long, so we could make stops at local colleges and road side attractions along the way for our short film we are making.
After trotting around Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, and San Francisco for a while we finally arrived in Emeryville before the big day of getting to see the Pixar studio. We had made sure to make the truck look as dirty as possible before our arrival to try and stay true to the film - until this happened.
The next day, we arrived at the studio, the gate was magically opened by the security guard and in we went. None of us knew what to expect. We figured at the very least we would park the truck in the parking lot and maybe get to see the atrium of the studio. We couldn't have guessed what happened next.
They had us pull in right in front of the atrium! We couldn't believe it. And who else was waiting for us after we parked? NBC! We actually got to do a live interview about our project and trip!
After that we were told to wait around in the atrium and check out the Studio Store and the cereal bar and etc. We were all like kids in a candy store. Just seeing the gate from the street outside would have been enough for us but we were actually inside! And it got better. We were taken on a tour of the studio, met everyone from Ed Catmull to Lee Unkrich, and were even treated to screening of "La Luna" and the trailer for "Brave" in their screening room! After all this we were treated to a pizza party (fitting right?) made by their chefs that cook at the Cafe Luxo on site.
That was basically the trip in a nutshell. Of course, more antics and hijinks happened on the road but that will all be revealed in the short film we are working on. We didn't want to make this too long or have it too heavy with photos, so if you want to see some more videos/photos of the truck and our trip or learn more about the project check out these links.
