I can finally show my current project.

As I am very slow in these projects, I decided to proceed well, at least in one part, to start a topic here. In order for this was not a topic with only assembling papers.

So, that's what I did, as I am not a good sculptor (this is my first attempt), I prefer to use a papercraft model to help me in the volume, shape and symmetry.

First I got this:

I have no patience to continue the arms for now XD

Now i have this:

well, now my plans are to make the fiberglass mold and reproduce the piece in latex. I probably should do this until Sunday.

Sorry for my poor English. I understand very well the language, but writing it is a challenge for me XD

I hope you enjoy it.

Duuude, it's awesome. I have not finnished one from Crysis. I have to cover my paper model with the glass fiber. But I still have no time for this. xD Now I working on 3D model of Iron Man gauntlet gloves, preparing model for 3D printing (excatly like they from Legacy Effects) :D For sure I will write about it on the forum when I done.

Now it only remains to construct the left arm in papercraft

And today I managed to advance in the mold of the helmet. I did the first half

Re: [WIP]Crysis 2/3 Nanosuit: Papercraft+clay+latex.. Pics inside

Today I finished the second part of the mold (finally!)

but unfortunately I could not separate the two parts(was my first experience with mold ... don't blame me :cry)

So I had to destroy the positive mold

now I have a big mess to clean

Oh man that sucks with the mold! :( forgot release between the halves? Bummer. If youre careful I think you can saw the halves apart, I'd make the joining flange much thicker first though.

I used Vaseline, but I think it should not have been enough x.x

Re: [WIP]Crysis 2/3 Nanosuit: Papercraft+clay+latex.. Pics inside

what are you making the mould out of iv never seen it done like this before

Re: [WIP]Crysis 2/3 Nanosuit: Papercraft+clay+latex.. Pics inside

The helmet was looking GREAT, I hope you come out of this successfully, I can't wait to see it:)

EDIT: Oh and as a tip for using fiberglass, When you go to make your flange where you will split the mold. Using some clay attach some playing cards covered in aluminum foil to make the "seam". Fiberglass resin usually doesn't stick to foil or parchment paper. I'm not sure if it's depending on brand or not but I don't think it matters in that case.

iv been wanting to make a mould and cast something for a whyle moving over from foam. think ill start with a predator mask or a captain america helmet something simple for the first one that dosnt need a big mould. maby ill use this method for it i like it

i was just about to say that. aluminium foil is a time saver when it comes to resining. i generally cover all my workspaces with it before i start resining.

Thx for the tip... I certainly will use it in the next piece. Probably will be the torso

Question: I need some mold release agent between fiber and latex?
