Captain America TFA Costume Build - DONE! - New Helmet Build Pics!

Re: Captain America TFA Costume Build - WIP

OCD..... some circles just call it attention to detail.

Do you have access to a 3D printer or did you subcontract the printing after creating your own files?

Re: Captain America TFA Costume Build - WIP

Shapeways.com the only place to 3D print if you ask me, quick turn-around, friendly customer service, and they offer tons of different material options. :)

So yeah, I create my own files, upload and order. :)

Re: Captain America TFA Costume Build - WIP

Graphic Jordan, how much did those parts cost? I do a lot of work with SLA (another type of RP material), and would be interested in branching out into other materials and methods (I am guessing shapeways.com uses SLS).

Re: Captain America TFA Costume Build - WIP

The shapeways parts looks awesome! As always I am subscribed to this

Re: Captain America TFA Costume Build - WIP

The buckles and leather work look fantastic. Now you just need to weather the holster a little to match the harnes, then I'd call the rig complete.

Thanks for the tip. You've earned a Don Cherry :thumbsup
Now have a new skill to learn.

Re: Captain America TFA Costume Build - WIP

Small update... more coming soon.

Got my jump/corcoran/paratrooper boots. Will be adding the cuffs to the tops shortly. :) Then they'll get a color/weathering change.

I also scored a sweet set of dogtags from fellow RPF member, SirJediKnightTim, thanks again bro! They're beautiful. :)

Re: Captain America TFA Costume Build - WIP

Hey you got your printed parts already in right? I'd love to see them in person, and share and compare our measurements, estimates, and such. :) Let me know.

Re: Captain America TFA Costume Build - WIP

Boots are just about done. Just need to add laces and dirty up a bit more. These are ATF Paratrooper boots with vintage 1940's leather cuffs from another pair of boots added to the top... so now they're the correct height, etc. :) Not screen accurate so to speak, but who gives a crap, eh? ha!

Re: Captain America TFA Costume Build - WIP

My buddy Robo modeled the helmet. Print arrived. Looks great. My buddy Reevz will do the cleanup, molding and casting for me. :) So stoked!

Re: Captain America TFA Costume Build - WIP

Nice looking helmet and minus the hooks on the tops of the boots.... these are the most screen accurate to date.

Re: Captain America TFA Costume Build - WIP

Thanks! Yeah... not really going for 100% accuracy, I think shooting for that would be a silly unrealistic goal, besides this costume will still blow the minds of non-costuming prop people on Halloween, ha!

Re: Captain America TFA Costume Build - WIP

Thanks guys! This is actually my first time working with leather, I just read lots, and I'm super anal retentive and OCD in nature, ha!

Small update:

Back Harness, need to paint and then black wash like I did the buckle... but damn, the print turned out great. :)
