1/25 "Eleanor" from "gone in 60 seconds"

Hello

I´m currently building the ´67 Shelby GT500 called "Eleanor" from the movie "gone in 60 seconds" with Nicolas Cage. Thought I´d share it with you.

For this build I use a Scaleproduction resin transkit and an AMT GT350 as a parts donor. Here you can see what´s included in the transkit.

This is the parts donor kit from AMT.

After I figured out the right stance of the car, the body was primered and a coat of gloss black was airbrushed for the black stripes.

After the black was dry, the stripes were masked with Tamiya masking tape and then a few very thin coats of Tamiya light-gunmetal found its way on the body. The masking tape was then removed without causing any damages.

Here is a little mock-up after the paint has dried over night. The colors came out pretty good in my opinion.

When the body has dried for some days, several coats of gloss clear will be applied. Then the whole package will be carefully wet-sanded with 6000-12000 grit micro mesh to get a super-smooth surface (that was also done between each coat of the colors to avoid orange peel). After that the body will be polished. Meanwhile I´ll focus on the wheels, engine and interior.

Hope to have an update soon. Thanks for looking.

Kevin

Very cool! Always loved this car. I did not know about this transkit, may have to look into that for myself. Looking forward to your progress on this!

Hi Robiwon,

the transkit was bought here, it is nowhere else available:
ScaleProduction 1:24/25

It is currently not available, but it has been reissued several times as there were a lot of people interested to buy one. In the last years issue there was also a driver figure included. You should shoot them a mail to ask for the next reissue. And don't waste time when it's available again. There transkits were always sold out within a few days. Quality is top notch, these are the best resin parts I have ever seen.

Thanks Darth. Keep your eyes open for one of these transkits. It is really nice and a blast to build. I have a little update. The rear bumper has been painted and I also put some work into the wheels and the etched brakes. Have a look.

Hope to have an update again soon.

I've had this on my shortlist for sometime, but never could figure out where to start! Thanks so much for posting up your donor parts!!

Thanks guys.

@Robiwon:
No, I´ll build it in good condition with intact rear view mirrors. I think it would look pretty ****ty with a broken mirror. Just like a damaged model. If you want to see me build a damaged car, I can tell you it will come. I have planned to build the original yellow Eleanor aswell. But this time with all the damages that the car got during the chase scenes. Just have to finish some other models that have already been started.

@Hotshot:
The master for the body from the transkit is actually a modified version of the AMT GT350 body shown above. This is the only kit that brings all the parts needed like rear lights, rear bumper, window glasses, complete chassis and interior. With these parts the model will built up just like any other standard kit. Do you already have one of these transkits?

Hello there

A little progress on the Eleanor. Three coats of clear were shot on the body and all the lights have been installed. The paintjob came out pretty good and I should have a nice result when the body is finally polished and waxed. Enjoy the pics:

I´m pretty happy with the result so far. Hope you like it, too.

Thanks for looking and best regards

I did not know bout this transkit myself. went hunting it and the reply from the place says.. completely sold out. Unable to get one. I made mine from a base of the AMT with the hood from a 24th scale diecast. didn't like the way it came out. so I had scrapped the build. Later went back to the diecast, found it again in black with white stripes. I'd repainted it flat black, then added gunmetal silver, with a little pearl coat for added sparkle. I left the windows alone, and kept most of it as it was. redid the side stripes, with Keith Marks decals. and AMT graphics together. didn't come out too baddly. Still have to finish doing the chrome mouldings.

Thanks mates, glad you like it.

In the last years there has been a reissue of the transkit each year, as far as I know. Whenever there were enough people demanding a kit, they produced new ones. If there is a minimum of, let´s say 50, people teasing them with urgent requests, a new release becomes profitable, me thinks. Maybe someone should start to search for interested modelers and then contact Scaleproduction to pronounce a collective order in case of a reissue.

Greetz,
Kevin

Hi guys

Finally a little progress on my Eleanor build. The body has been polished out and she gleams pretty nice. Next step is adding the chrome trim with bare metal foil and installing the windows

Got a new camera today...still have to figure out how to take some proper pics. Building models is easier than finding the right settings for a cam...:facepalm

It´s probably better to take pics in daylight... I think I´ll find the right settings before the model will be finished.:thumbsup

Kevin
