where is this located in the cockpit? i can't think of it off the top of my head, but would love to have this on my desk or night stand, beautiful!

Hey Greg... is that canister in ESB or is it just an addition that was added for the Ep7 Falcon? If its just the EP7 addition, what does the canister look like in ESB?

Hi Gang,

I promise to get to all your comments and PMs VERY soon! :) Another early morning update!

Finally finished the pin striping

Most of the morning was spent working the new "Volvo" nose panels. As many of you know the nose is essentially a cone so there are a TON of different angles. We didn't CNC those angles so I had to cut them all by hand - Scot designed the pieces to ensure enough material for hand cutting - these are the sides

I believe there was a comment re: the EP VII Canister and where it was and what it replaced from the ESB Version. ESB Left - EP VII Right

WHEW... More to Follow!

I think your brain is telling you that you have to make the whole ship! You might have to get the DeAgo to satisfy that need your subconsciene is telling you! Great update bro... and thanks for the pic of the canister difference... I had already squared my cockpit canister and was worried I may have to fix it! :)

Hi Gang,

Although not a lot of photos this might the most important update this build has ever seen! No really! ;)

Sunday morning started with the usual... the laser cutter. I designed and laser cut this greeblie for the back panel of the console
20151115_104008_zpswtb8tu4t.jpg

20151115_101311_zpsnli8lnpw.jpg

I also laser cut the red tiles for the back panel
20151115_104019_zps5td030yw.jpg

Jessie stopped by and sanded and added primer
20151115_111524_zpsjyxd39ct.jpg

Mounted into place
20151116_053917_zpslscnu7vz.jpg

I removed the yellow tiles and replaced with white and added a few more pin stripes
20151115_104842_zpsez0rhhgj.jpg

20151115_104847_zpsrac4kb9s.jpg

Added some more visual interest to the canopy box handles
20151115_125044_zpsi1z9ckfo.jpg

20151115_125058_zpsiz7abijm.jpg

Let's get serious! Before we put together the nose frame I had to cut all the correct angles on the "ribs"
20151115_124109_zpsxig35k7i.jpg

Daniel, Jessie and then took apart the nose frame and began to reconstruct. This took the rest of the day and well into the evening
20151115_160653_zpsevycpp4s.jpg

Our good friend Micheal, from our Mind Gear Days, also stopped by to help - it was great to catch up!

There were lots of little angles to be realized and eventually trimmed to make everything fit

Have to build new riser panels and reinforce the nav chair platforms - this week (along with... everything else!)

Also, I'll be finishing up the new throttle housing

Whew... A HUGE Thank You to Jessie, Daniel and Michael for helping out this weekend! And equally important, thank you to OperaScot for getting all these files CNC ready, staying by the phone and walking us through this entire part of the build! You Sir, are the hero of the week! :) Thank you!

Superb interpretation of the trickiest area to see in the cockpit, inspired!!!

I think the two overhead boxes swapped sides somewhere between the photo of the pit being constructed and filming lol.

Thanks, W! It's been tough but also fun to have a little bit freedom to design. You are correct, looking through all the various BTS photos we've realized that the designers did in fact make changes during filming. It's very frustrating trying to nail down what's what, what's there, where did that piece go, etc etc etc... it's all part of the madness and fun!

Hi R,

Thanks! :)

Hi Sofa,

After watching the preview for the disney behind the scene special, I was able to do a quick 3D mockup of the center armrest canister --

View attachment 554765
I am hoping that this might give you a few ideas for your project and if you want I can send you the 3D file if you think you may need it --

Thanks

Oslm

Hi O,

Thanks for the great 3D image! We've been able to recreate the canister in 3D as well using the few screen shots we have. Once the chaos does down I'm going to recreate the canister with machined parts. We should have more images available the closer we get to the premiere.

Hi F,

Thanks so much! We're printing those now - along with trying to do everything else. ;)

where is this located in the cockpit? i can't think of it off the top of my head, but would love to have this on my desk or night stand, beautiful!

That's a great idea! It would make a great greeblie lamp.

Hey T,

Naturally... the moment I'm about to finish the greeblie a clear shot of the dang thing appears. I think they do this to me on purpose! ;)

Great image! Thanks for posting

Hey Greg... is that canister in ESB or is it just an addition that was added for the Ep7 Falcon? If its just the EP7 addition, what does the canister look like in ESB?

Hey Hey

It was an update for EP VII. I love both greeblies. But I think I'm going to leave the EP VII Canister in place for now. :)

When did you stop and take a breath????. Awesome update Sofaking01.

Thanks Iz! Breathing? What's that? ;)

Thanks L!

We are making the entire ship... at least that's the plan. Also, we have something planned to take the place of the DeAgo model. Wont get to that until after the new year. Whew... there's always something going on!

blown away at the attention to detail...

Hi H,

Thanks so much! We're really trying to remain faithful to the original ESB version (minus the EP VII Canister). Granted, there is only so much we can do with the limited images we have, but we want to everybody to be able to look at every panel from every angle and get the sense you're in the actual ESB version of the cockpit.

Thanks again

I'm always giddy when seeing your updates Sofa! Makes my day everytime:cool

Hey Jo,

Thanks so much! Kind words :)

- - - Updated - - -

I second that, let's get someone to cast the base and top in resin then bed chromed, and machine the columns in metal and get the tube done in clear tempered glass.

Hi S,

HMMMM... that's a great idea!

- - - Updated - - -

Hmm…BOTH drills…yeah, that’s it. I loose more tools that way myself…

Mark

Hi M,

Nope... keep looking! ;)

Man! Serious work! I'd sure like to know the overall estimated cost of this project.

Hi F,

Thanks! These past few weeks have been intense! It's going to get worse! Cost estimate? I try not to think about it! ;)
