1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Sofaking since you have several experiences presenting the cockpit to the people, do you have plans to make more "people-proof", using stronger materials to the more high risk areas?

Hi A,

We've been having those exact talks and we're stuck between self preservation and screen accuracy. We've already come up with a "You Must Be This Tall" sign idea (Jessie is working that design now). That will keep a majority of the "little hands" away from the prop. And with us getting ready to start console #2... we're tossing ideas around.

We know this is not a ride at Disneyland where millions of people will be getting in and out of. That was never the plan... while I would love to have millions of people come see it, we'll have to find some kind of compromise... I guess... It's a tough balacing act for sure.

The next few shows will determine how we move forward.

Great job guys! :D

I've been looking for a new office swivel chair for my man cave. Now I'm tempted to build a Falcon Cockpit replica and stick it on wheels instead! How comfortable are they?

Hi J,

Thanks so much. Believe it or not, the JEGS racing seats are VERY comfortable. I can only imagine how much more comfy they will be when the padding and upholstry are added. Now, if you're asking about the nav chairs... We hope to find out pretty soon.

These pics are insane! Love this cockpit!! :thumbsup

Hi J,

Thank you so much! We've been trying to get a few more professional pics done but the timing, weather, projects, and life seem to be getting in the way... Hang tight... lots of good stuff coming!

Yeah- if you've taken a look at flight cockpits in museums that encourage "interaction" with young children the amount of damage sustained is incredible (or they block off the more sensitive items).

One option (perhaps you're doing it already) is to have members of the team give short presentations on the Millennium Falcon, the build and ensure that your guests remain respectful of the work.

One of you should get a nice Storm Trooper outfit and be the security guy who tells naughty kids to keep their hands off the merchandise (try to keep them alive, no disintegrations).

this is just too unreal of a build, you guys have gone way over the top!

Hi E,

Thank you so much for the kind words. The sound and lighting crew really brought life into the build. They are my heros! Stay tuned, we're gearing up for the next round round of updates! Thanks again!

Hey Sith,

While it's unfortunate that the smaller hands won't have access, it just makes total sense. While we might make a few parents upset... but what can I say? I can't make everybody happy. I've learned that no matter how many times you tell someone NOT to do something... you get those few people who just "have" to do it. I think it will balance out in the end... :)

As you wish...

Actually, you may need to make a wall board display. "The museum of broken parts" to show how delicate much of the `pit is.
I think that would go a long way in showing the unwashed masses that they need to handle the whole construct with utmost care.

The day that the public considers anything before they break something, is the day they have to pay a deposit to view the display, and not get it back until they successfully finish looking without causing any mayhem.

Hi Gang,

Some much needed updates!

GREEBLIES! These arrived in the mail... I'm sure many of you know what these are for! ;)

Also picked up some Wemac aircraft swivel reading lights - similar to R2s swivel light. These will go into the cockpit and shine down on the two nav chairs

A little clean up is required

A little bit more clean up and fixing required... We might use one of the MILLIONS of toggles already in place. But I do like the toggle option

And then it's up to Nashville for another show on Sunday! Console and Quad only, no cockpit... Stay Tuned!
