Any reviews on Space Battleship Yamato Jackets?

Just watched the 2010 live-action Space Battleship Yamato (it's awwweeesommmee) and wondered if anyone has purchased the HelloCosplay Kodai/Wildstar jacket and could share their thoughts and answer some questions about them (what's the lining, how's the fit, etc...) or suggest an alternate seller?

Space Battleship Yamato Costume Susumu Kodai Leather Jacket - $115.00 : Hello Cosplay : Cosplay Costumes :Cosplay Wigs

And apologies if this is the wrong place to post this. My roomies, who watched with me, and I were speculating in the midst of our fan-boy squeeing about buying replicas.

I purchased one from Ebay. You get what you pay for. It was okay and semi-accurate. Made of all pleather and very warm. The measurements were a little off but overall it fit. The front arrow was too small. Yes, it was a Kodai jacket but it looked kind of cheap. But, like I said, you get what you pay for I guess. I am currently having one custom made.

If you are curious, the red parts are in fact leather and the white (actually it is an ivory color) is Polyester 60% Cotton 40%.
.
I have spent many hours on researching the jacket. If I can help answer any questions, I will be happy to assist.

Greetings all! After talking about putting together a Space Battleship Yamato outfit for a few years, I've finally taken the plunge. I ordered the Jacket (Kodai version) and it came out well. Now, I'm putting together all the other details.

I've got the movie on DVD and have been doing frame captures in order to decide on what to do for the pants and boots. Does anyone actually know which brands were used in the movie, or barring that, have any suggestions? I''m about ready to hit the local surplus store to see what I can find.

I too just got the bluray and now want to make the costume. I thought the jacket looked to be fabric, not leather. Are there any places that are especially good for reference on this?

I've been thinking about this costume as well. About the white: I used an eggshell wool elastique for my Macross officers' uniform and it has a great weight, hand and sheen. I think that would be a good option for this. You could also use white supplex from Rockywoods, which has a cool 'tech' feel but is relatively thin and would need to be interlinked with muslin. Also, it's brilliant white and a bit overwhelming to photograph or film. I used the supplex form my Macross flight suit (in my gallery here), but went through a whole crazy process of dye and paint to get the color and distress right on it.

Personally, I'd go the wool elastique route combined with the red leather.
