Obi1kenny's Rebel Blaster prototype

The real mystery are the gold greblies behind the scope.
Circled here in blue:

"On the single point scope that Chrima has copied, I believe that the real scope on the right is a loner from Chris James, but donÂ’t know if the tip is an add-on or what."

Chris has one of the VERY old Single Points.
The cone is the right shape but it's not clear and the mount for the red strip is different.

There were at least 4 versions of the Single Point.

The one used in ANH was the late version.

Castings of the dome Single Point may have been used in ESB.

By the way, the scope on the stunt blaster is the correct scope but they molded it without the protective caps on the
windage and elevation knobs.

Which is interesting because that's what they did for most of the ESB blasters (including the Scout Trooper pistol).
The scope rings are also the ESB type.
I wonder if that blaster is an ESB blaster they made using an ANH stunt body.

Actually those scope rings are the ROTJ type, not ESB.
From what I've heard about that blaster it's a real ANH, but was missing the scope and rings. Whoever replaced them probably looked at ROTJ pics for reference.

Here's the ESB for comparison:
<img src=http://mywebpages.comcast.net/lonepigeon/esbdh17.gif>

It uses several model parts for detail including a couple from the V8. The camshaft and a part I JUST found looking at the pics again. the tip of the top rail is part #62-H of the V-8.
Time to go add one more to the page!

PS- the V8 kit parts don't show up until ESB props, so none of them are on the ANH.

Ob1kenny and TK818:
Have either of you visited the Planet Hollywood in South Lake Tahoe? The last time I was up there (3-4 weeks ago), I was surprised to see that they had a resin one that the plaque claimed was screen used. Then again, they had a picture of stormtroopers holding E-11s behind it and called it a stormtrooper blaster, so I'd take this claim with a grain of salt.

Sadly, I didn't have my camera with me then, so I couldn't even tell you which side of the gun was showing. Or is this old news to you?

Nick

EDIT: Forgot to mention how nice your blaster looks.

I hope to see it in person at the next prop party.

And what's up with this part:

DH17site.jpg

It looks like a rear blade site turned sideways.

I wish we had a shot of the other side of the blaster to see if the clip housing is cut away.

Oh, yes, that's the scope ring from ROTJ not ESB and ANH, my brain just stopped working for a second there : )

Here are some other mystery parts on the right side of the Imperial DH17:

DHimpGreeblie.jpg

They sort of look like wire connectors.

The pic I posted of the ESB is from Planet Hollywood.
It's real, or at least cast from a real one (the props were resin anyway). There's a famous publicity shot of Billy Dee from ESB that shows this blaster very well.
I'll have to did through my pics of other model kits. I might be able to come up with that missle on the side of the ESB DH-17.
Someone on the Scale Modelling Forum could probably figure it out quick too.

I made a real quick one out of PVC and toy parts. It is no where close to acurate but I like it. The next one will be better.

Can anyone guess what the grip of the gun was made from?

Nick, Thanks for the info. It looks like Chris is saying that that last pic of the ESB style is that same one. Or I might have had to take a drive up that way.

Richard, Speaking of that part on the Imperial blaster, is that the only place on the movie that is shows up is in the detention block? I know you guys have looked at this on laser disk, so does it show up any better there or did you catch any thing new the last time you saw ANH, like at the Spangler threater?

Soilman, That is the GI Joe version of the LAser Tag Blaster. The old versions of the game.

The Blaster is looking great! I love it!!!

Great Job!

I just came across this small pic in the new Star Wars Insider. ItÂ’s for the new series of CCG cards. Does anyone collect these or have access to these cards yet?

IÂ’d like to get a large scan off of this card and see if it can pick up any more detail on the back side of this gun.

EDIT: I would still like to get a good scan of this new Gameing card.

Kenny,
Great, great job on the rebel blaster.

TK818,
Here is a photo of my singlepoint scope. I think this may be the later version you mentioned that was used in ANH:

Here's a closeup of the front cone:

I believe that's still not the correct scope. I have one of these. The clone is the correct shape (but fogged from age) but the correct one used had screw on caps. TK818 has one so I'm sure he'll post pictures

All this talk and new discoveries reminds me of when Boba Debt first started to research and crank out Han blasters. I think we remember how mixed up the earlier attempts where.

I'm assuming Richard/TK818 is aiming for the ANH blaster as it's been his pet project for years.

Yes, that's the early style scope.
Here is the correct version:

The main difference is the caps for the windage and elevation knobs.
The late model scope has metal screw on caps rather than the pop on rubber caps.
