Lord of the rings Prologue 2nd age Elven Warrior Armour...

This is my favorite costume from the LOTR trilogy. I've always liked this costume
since i saw the fellowship at the cinema. So i've finally decided to give it a
go, hopefully it'll turn out ok. I plan on getting the UC elven warrior items,
the sword might be a problem in the UK but the helmet and shield shouldn't be too hard to
get (just expensive) I plan on making the armour from 1 -1.5mm plasticard with
rubber edge trim for the beaded effect on the edges and leather. I know you can get a bead
roller to do the same job but i don't want to spend £100+ just to use it once.

On to the pics, i only started this yesterday and have pretty much got my
chest and bicep templates done. I ran out of card so i'll try and get the
hip/thigh armour and the bracers done this week. So far this is just card
and brass split pins to hold it together.

Ooooh, I've loved this armor since the first time I saw The Fellowship on the big screen. :love
Your templates look good already, can't wait to see more!

Hey Mike,

I have seen that site before, i didn't know that was some of your work
though. Awesome stuff, i just hope mine turns out half as good as yours !

Speaking of help (o; i am having a bit of trouble with the bracers. You
wouldn't happen to have any templates that you'd like to share ?:rolleyes

Wow great work so far. 2nd age elven warriors are indeed the coolest of the trilogy

Thanx mothmonty, Elven warriors rule :lol:cheers

A little update, i haven't had much time to work on this. so i'm not as far
along as i would like. I worked on the hip/thigh armour a bit today.
It still needs a bit of work but the rough shape coming along (again this is
just card and split pins) I also reworked the chest templates a bit, so it
doesn't look so much like a tube.

Hip/Thigh armour:

Reworked chest with a sample of the rubber edge trim that i plan on using
for the bead detail:

Wow you are a machine! You've got a lot done in a short amount of time and smart to overlap the hips the way you did. Looking good. Lovin' seeing all the new 2AE costumes pop up. :0)

I have a couple of questions for you about your armor.
I see you used a bead roller for the edge details.
What size step die did you use ? also what thickness of
material ?

I was thinking 1-1.5mm polypropylene sheet ?

I'm thinking it might be too much of a pain gluing rubber
on the edges, especially the smaller pieces with the tight
curves!

Space it's goin' good! Hopefully we can get a group together this year and troop a bit. It'd be nice especially with all the helmet orders have that have to come be. I need to see about getting bigger shin guards as the ones I'd used were childrens, but other than that, all is good :0)

HMS-WOW! that is some incredible work and they looked lovely! Thanks for posting that link. :thumbsup
