Was going to put this in the prop section but I will be starting my Mark VI build pretty soon so might as well just combined them. Besides its going to be needed to power my suit :lol Anyways here's my arc reactor for the Mark VI that I made from household items and a few inexpensive parts.

I used SideShow's replica arc reactor as a reference. Didn't intend to make it exact but to get the "look" of it.

Parts:
- Template provided by Demolition- Thanks!
- PVC pipe-Home Depot = $2
- Cardboard- Household item
- Usb book light x2 - Dollar Store = $2
- 4 AA Battery Holder - Fry's = $1.25
- Snap connector - Fry's = $0.25
- Resistors 150ohm 1/4w Tol 2% - Fry's = $2
- Plastic container for cover - Dollar Store = $1
- Spray paint - Already had = $0
- Plastic door handle guard - Dollar Store = $1

Total = $9.50 :)

Tools
- Rotary tool
- Soldering Iron
- Hobby knife
- Wire cutter
- Scissors

No prob. Yea when I first turned it on in the dark I got butterflies. I think I could probably make some improvements to the casing though.

Hopefully it will give people some ideas of how to go about making one on their own and at the same time won't put a hole in the wallet.

Thanks. Yea that why I like the sideshow one and decided to make on using their design features.

Thanks. Haha if anything, its just a bigger version of yours. The foam is pretty good thanks for suggestion and I got on sale for 15 bucks :). I've been just using sharp pair of scissors to cut the pieces

Re: Mark VI Arc Reactor/ Started Mark VI Build(Pic Heavy)

This is soo sick, Ive been snoopin around the interwebs for a while now, and seeing some of the genius materials used for these things blows my mind.

Re: Mark VI Arc Reactor/ Started Mark VI Build(Pic Heavy)

p.s. Im curious how you plan to paint the foam?

Thanks

For paint I'm going to use the same process as indiefilgeek. Which includes a base coat of plasti dip, adhesive promoter, then paint. You should check out his Iron Man build for his son it's amazing!

And there's a lot of useful information.
