Red Hood Build Version 2 (Noob Build) Update 11/3

Re: Red Hood Build Version 2 (Noob Build) Paint Pg 3

Ok so I added the black lines. Well temporarily. I used some compressed charcoal to draw the lines on to the helmet to give me an idea of how it would look if I painted them on. Surprisingly it looked pretty good, so I might just go that route. Still going to try other possible techniques but at least I have an idea of what paint would look like.

Here are some photos. (It really gives the helmet a whole new feel :D)

I think I have a few symmetry problems that may need to be corrected before painted on.

What do you guys think?

LOL!!! I have both, Red Hood ver.2 ( Thanks BlackKaos ) and Future Batman ( Thanks GJ and Robo ) builds going on right now too. I'll thank you guys again when I eventually start my own thread on my builds. Best of luck to you on your Future Bats build too as your Red Hood ROCKS..... OUTSTANDING builder.

Judge Spartan - Thanks for the comments. Its greatly appreciated.

dabiddabird - The helmet looks great. When I first seen the pictures I thought you painted the lines. I think the helmet looks just as good with the lines drawn on as apposed to indenting them and painting. Can't blame you either way you do it because I think you have done an excellent job with this helmet.

Thanks all comments are greatly appreciated. I wish I learned about this stuff a lot sooner lol.

Re: Red Hood Build Version 2 (Noob Build) Update 9/15

Small update: Finding time is really hard between work and school. I did get to paint the inner eye area black and may be able to get the lines painted this weekend.

Sorry all I have is my phone camera and some shots are blurred.

Ok got black lines painted on. I went with a thicker line because I wanted a bold line that could be easily identifiable from a distance. I also wanted them to be more pronounced.

I think it came out pretty good. Still need to add those matte clear coats to bring down the glossiness. What do you guys think?

Wow! It really looks great. Amazing work, and I completely agree with your decision to do the more pronounced black lines. Awesome job!

Re: Red Hood Build Version 2 (Noob Build) Update 9/24

Thanks guys. All I need now is padding the inside and installing the lenses. Oh and matte clear coats.

Re: Red Hood Build Version 2 (Noob Build) Update 9/24

It looks great I would honestly take a dremel engraving bit and follow the black line on the helmet, but that's just me it looks great how it is now.

Re: Red Hood Build Version 2 (Noob Build) Update 9/24

Looks very nice. Should make a mold out of it...
I wouldn't even know where to begin lol

The helmets looking sweet dude, looking forward to seeing full outfit

Thanks little by little its coming together.

Thanks. Yea that's what I originally wanted to do but its not that thick and I feel might cut clean through it :confused

I think I may make another one but that is a 2 piece with a hinge. That way it fits closer to the face. And build up bondo to engrave the lines

Re: Red Hood Build Version 2 (Noob Build) Update 9/24

So did 2 different test for the eyes tonight. I will still be trying others, and will take suggestions too :)

Here are the two that I tried today. Sorry for crap photos.

This one is poly mesh with with perforated plastic.

And this one is just white poly mesh.

What you guys think? Suggestions? I was trying lenses but the ones have have don't fit the shape of the eye holes to well. (Issues mostly due to the curvature of the lenses)

Re: Red Hood Build Version 2 (Noob Build) Update 9/24

While I like the feel of the left eye, I think the straight lines and sharp angles contrast the smooth round eye opening. Maybe the shape of the right eye, but smaller? And if you can see out of the mesh OK, I'd say use that and not the perf plastic.
