KUHN GLOBAL NX-01

I saw one of you inquiring about the aztec patterns of the NX-01 and didn't want to hijack the thread,..(not that it would've, but professionalism runs first with me).

I commissioned John Eblan (The FX Company) to do this PL NX-01 for me and these are the pictures he sent me for approval before sending the actual finished model to me.

I really love this piece. The aztec design was not overly done, but does show the major character of the ship and gives it scale. His interior lighting is top notch and I believe a fan film could be shot using this model today.

This is the first of 1/350 scale ST builds happening for Kuhn Global. John Eblan will be doing the 1701 Refit from the PL kit as well for me in a few months. Then Richard will be scratch building both a 1/350 Excelsior and also an 1701B for me in the near future. It is on the 2007 list posted in Studio Scale Modeling Section entitled "Kuhn Global Commissions".

Anyway,.. I thought you may like to see this build and what a former ILMer did to it. I LOVE IT...

Here she is.

Hoo-ahhhh...

That is a great piece of work. I like this ship. Very nice. :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

Thanks B. :p

I read that you are building one? I would love to see it when it's ready...even before then.

Thanks again for the Hoo-ahhhh... John reads these boards and I am sure he would appreciate it as well. I am very pleased with what he gave me.

Very nice. Razor sharp details. Looks utterly fantastic. :D :thumbsup

I have one observation. The contrast between dark and light plates on the hull seems very extreme in your photos. Is it like that in person, or is it just the photos? IMHO the ship never looked that contrasty on the show.

On the other hand, the NX-01 was never built as a physical miniature, only as a digital model on the computer. So who knows. :lol

Awesome work from John as usual.

That's the problem with trying to make a replica that never existed in physical form sometimes, it's hard to match the colors since the CG artist's never actually used real paint.

Most welcome Kurt man.

My NX? Nah, it will be a while coz I have some kits to push out first. But yeah, will link up here once I start on it.

John's one of the best builder/painter I ever come across. Rel man shown me some of his other work which are all very "hoo-ahhh" too.

Most inspiring, this is why I love this board the best coz a high concentration of great builders are here.

I understand what ya mean.... and the answer is a bit weird, but never-the-less, here it is...;)

In natural light and even darker rooms the contrast is not drastic or highly apparant at all,.. and displays much like the Captured Pic above. When applying direct light to the model it shows the higher contrast.

So,.. I keep it in natural light to keep with the CG renders. Over all,.. I think he did what was necessary for a normal to slightly shaded lit room.

Thanks for the compliment Phase. Good observation too.

Thanks for all the comps guys. John is indeed top notch in his field.

Beautiful model Kurt. It also makes me want to start my NX or my Refit, but alas, I have no space for them at the moment.

Well hell, after seeing how fantastic that model is I'm just going to go bury mine and not even attempt to build it as the best has been done. Fantastic. :)

HUGELY awesome, Kurt (K2?).

And I MUST see more pics of the NCC 1701.

Thanks Rob.

The 1701 and the Voyager are both John Eblan's builds he used for scale reference in the pics. They are AWESOME and TYPICAL of his work. Check out his site here: www.thefxcompany.com

Boxter,..The NCC-1701 are just the Ship's ID hull numbers... the name is the ship is the USS Enterprise. The pics just didn't show the words on the hull, but they are there in several places on the ship. So you are still correct in your first knowledge that USS Enterprise is her name. :p

This is a piece that I have on my list for John to do.. looks like ya beat me to the punch JediDave. :p I know he is commissioned much for this model. John makes each private and custom to the owner ordering too. Very KEWL..

She's a BEAUTY jedidave... As always,.. John Eblan did a GREAT JOB. Totally film ready if ya ask me.

I just got off of the phone with John Eblan and he said I could post the pics he sent me of a 1701 Build he did for a guy in N.Y.. He sent me them to show me his interiors most of all. MOST IMPRESSIVE. I mean... check out those shuttle bays...and the spacedock stand.. He told me that he even has one with a lit shuttle posed flying around the dock. :eek

What else would you expect from an ILMer?.. LOL. :thumbsup :D :thumbsup

Boxter... in these USS Enterprise can be seen. :p

Here they are...
