Godzilla (2014)

Last i checked, the most japanese pronouns are gender neutral save for kanojo (when used informally refers to a girlfriend). And i have never heard godzilla referred to as such.

thats what i was thinking too, but wasnt sure. i just like to think of him as a he because that makes him more menacing i think. just my opinion though :lol

Godzilla has always been billed as King of Monsters.

He is male.

I figure the egg was just laying around and mutated by radiation in some origin simliar to Godzilla.

Any female egg layers never got mutated, or were extinct.

Plus here is Godzilla with his lovely off screen wife...

Godzilla was billed as king of monsters in the first movie - the first godzilla was a boy - and the whole king of monsters title i believe was slapped on by america. I put a call to a great friend of mine who has worked at Toho and on godzilla since the 70s - im going to see what he says about it.

Those first suits sounded like pure horror to be in them.

they were. the suit for the first movie was the first time anyone had ever done suitmation so there was no set way of making it so they used bamboo, chicken wire, and cheep silicone(i think) wich dried rock hard. the suit was over 200 pounds and had almost no movement in it. the actor would constantly pass out without anyone even knowing because the suit was so rigid it stood up by itself. he almost drowned in it a couple of times too. and the suit for the second movie wasnt much better. its amazing that the movie came out so good with so many problems with the suit.

I have Japanese trading cards that have "King of Monsters" printed on the cards.

I think the question only got presented because of Iguana-zilla.

And King Kong wouldn't hit a girl.

:lol Sure he would, his people used to tie them to trees and offer them up. Especially white women.

Which cards are they - can you scan one? I've NEVER seen "King of the Monsters" used anywhere but here.

Exclusive: Gareth Edwards Talks Godzilla Reboot! - ShockTillYouDrop.com

Fledgling filmmaker Gareth Edwards has a behemoth task ahead of him. He's rebooting Godzilla on American shores for Legendary Pictures. For some, Edwards and Big G are a natural fit given the former's feature debut Monsters - a movie that is decidedly heavy on human drama and light on the "monsters." Still when the tentacled beasties of that film rear their heads, there's a delicious sense of spectacle that's fighting for domination with the budget Edwards had to work with.

Many are curious to see what Edwards can do with Godzilla and the money that he's allowed to play with on his sophomore effort.

"I'm a big fan," Edwards tells Shock, palpably choosing his words wisely when it comes to talking about his latest endeavor. "I guess I will say I'm highly aware - and everyone involved is incredibly aware - of everyone's opinions on what this film has to do and what it has to be. And no one will do anything but the right thing. Without addressing anything specific, everyone knows how important is to get it right."

He can't talk about the scripting process (he did reveal he's not writing the film), however, he recalls his introduction to the long-running franchise. "My earliest memories was channel 4, they showed them every Friday night. As a kid I wasn't quite sure about the dubbing, the English-dubbed versions. They threw me for a bit. I love science fiction and, well I call them B movies but they're not, but I love '60s and '70s sci-fi. But these would come on and be dubbed and it would take my kid brain to adjust to the dubbing. It took me some time to get through that."

Those cards are awesome - it could be tge revamp godzilla movies differ from the 70's adventures. That godzilla is a reboot - even Minya looks more like a t-rex. The 70s godzilla is who they call "she" - thats who im talking about.

Love those cards though and even there Godzilla is called "king of monsters" leaving out "the" -- lol

I hope when he said "I'm a big fan" what he wasn't thinking "Yea, I've seen a few of the movies."

Then again, if the movie turns out like the last one, Toho might give us five more real Godzilla movies.

yeah, me too. i hope your talking about the last jap godzilla movie and not the last amarican one! XD

i hope theres some more news on this movie sometime soon.

God, I love bad oriental English. '...Godzilla v Successive Monster's battle is listed in it.' Just sublime. Paradise. I'd love to read all the cards.

It's great trying to work out what the hell they're trying to say and putting it into a natural English idiom. In this case, my best shot is 'Godzilla v a Host of Monsters. Every battle included.' But who knows...
